How to apply online for CBSE mentoring program Udaan 2016-17 for girl students for Engg. admission

Are you an 11th std. girl student from Government school of any recognized Indian Board / CBSE affiliated private school / KVs / JNVs? Want to take admission in leading engineering college in near future? Central Board of Secondary Education is inviting online applications to provide free of cost study materials, lectures, tutorials, tablets to girl students studying in class XI all over India for admission in premier engineering colleges.

Central Board of Secondary Education which is briefly known as CBSE is an autonomous organization. It is under the aegis of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India. The Board, CBSE, is now inviting online applications for Udaan 2016 – 2017 under guidance of HRD Ministry of GOI from girl students enrolled in class XI in government school of any recognized Indian Board or CBSE affiliated private school or KVs or JNVs.

Goal of Udaan 2016-17

The board has launched the Udaan scheme for the following purposes:
  • To increase the number of girls enrolment in recognized technical cum engineering institutions.
  • To reduce the gap of teaching between school education and engineering entrance exam.
  • To increase learning depth at the level of senior secondary.
  • To encourage girl students for technical education.
  • To make girls efficient to take admission in engineering colleges successfully.

Key features of the programme

The main features are as follows:
  • Free of cost tablets loaded with study materials and weekend contact classes at chosen city center will be provided during study in class Xi and XII so that students can make themselves prepared for the admission test of leading Indian engineering colleges.
  • Preparatory material through online portal, tutorials, video lectures etc. will be provided free of cost to the girl students of 11th and 12th standard.
  • Students as well as guardians will be guided through periodic counseling.
  • Students will be under constant monitoring and tracking of their progress.
  • For the preparation of both JEE Main and Advanced, intensive face to face program will be there for 'focused group students'.
  • Financial assistance as admission fee and tuition fee will be provided to those who fulfill the following points:
    1. At least 75% attendance in Udaan weekly assessments.
    2. Eligible for admission to IIT / NIT / centrally funded engineering / technical institute or colleges.
    3. Students don't have any other scholarship or financial assistance.
    4. Fine performance or promotion in each term.

Who are eligible to apply for Udaan 2016 – 2017

  1. Candidates should be Indian citizen residing in India.
  2. Only girl students studying in class XI with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in government school of any recognized Indian Board or CBSE affiliated private school or KVs or JNVs are eligible for Udaan.
  3. Candidates should have at least 70% marks in aggregate and 80% marks in Science and Mathematics in class X.
  4. In case of CGPA, at least CGPA of 8 and GPA of 9 in Science and Math are required.
  5. Annual family income of the candidates should be below 6 lac.

Selection procedure

1000 students will be selected for this program on merit basis so that they can take admission in centrally funded Indian engineering colleges or technical institutes. Selection will also be considering city centers chosen by the candidates for weekly contact classes. 27%, 15%, 7.5% and 3% seats are reserved for the candidates belong to OBC (NCL), SC, ST and PWD category respectively.

Application procedures

  1. First of all students should read Udaan brochure thoroughly.
  2. Then visit at online application portal.
  3. Click on "Step1:Fill Application Form".
  4. A window will be displayed stating instructions to fill up application form for Udaan online. Read it and close by clicking 'X' at top right corner of the window.
  5. You will be directed to the webpage containing application form. Fill it up providing your personal, educational and other details step by step as asked for.
  6. Upload your photo having signature at the bottom clicking on "Step2:Upload Photograph" available at the webpage mentioned under point no. 2 above.
  7. Now you have to print out of the followings:
    1. Filled in application form.
    2. Verification certificate which has to be verified and signed by the Principal of your school.
    3. Undertaking which is needed to be signed by parent of candidate.
    4. Applicant's confirmation certificate
    5. Documents mentioned in Sl. No. ii -iv are available in Udaan Brochure. Alternatively, click on "Step4:Download Declaration" link available at the webpage as mentioned in Sl. No. 2.
  8. Submit verified application form, verification certificated signed by school Principal, undertaking filled and signed by parent and applicant's confirmation certificate along with the following documents to the city coordinator of the city centre as chosen by the applicant.
    • Annual income certificate
    • Mark sheet or grade sheet of class X
    • Reservation certificate if applicable
  9. After submission to the city coordinator, don't forget to collect application receipt.

Interested candidates are suggested to go through the Udaan Brochure and find the list of state wise city centres with address, contact details and name of city coordinators.

  1. Online application is started on 4th July 2016
  2. Online portal for registration of applications for CBSE Udaan 2016-17 will be closed on 13th July 2016.
