After reading this article my thoughts went towards those people who uses the slippers or chappals for walking inside the house. I am totally against culture of using slippers or footwear for walking inside the room. In our religion we keep the foot wear outside and we won't enter the rooms with the foot wear on. So this holds good for walking on the grass too. Actually those who undertake walking must go barefoot only so that the soil and sand must touch our body through the foot and that will have a one to one contact with the soil and person. But we either prefer shoes or slippers while going for walking and do not give the chance to keep the foot on the ground. At least one must practice walking barefoot on the grass in which there is no harm.

Reading this recalled my personal experience.

During the early days of may career, I was staying in the staff quarters. There were very well maintained lawns. During the winter it was quite an experience to walk on the grass barefoot. I enjoyed the exhilarating experience of the wetness and coolness to the barefoot, the feet which otherwise were kept tight and closed inside shoes and socks for much of the time.

Ayurvedic doctors always tell us to keep the feet properly clean and healthy to have healthy eyes. While (as the saying goes) legs are to be warm and head to be kept 'cool', extreme heat and fatigue to the feet causes lot of health problems. Legs, especially, need relaxation also. One of the very suitable ways of relaxing our feet is to walk barefoot on cool grass early in the morning. One should be sure that the grass is smooth and there is nothing to hurt and injure our bare foot.
