Appa delivers a lot of messages to the parents. This article explains the plot and review of Appa Tamil Movie (2016) by Samuthirakani.

Movie Name: Appa (meaning Father)
Genre: Drama

Music Director: Ilayaraja
Cinematography: Richard. M. Nathan
Editor: A.L Ramesh
Cast: Samuthirakani, Thambi Ramaiah, Namo Narayanan and J. Vignesh

Appa movie shows the stories of 3 fathers and how they raise their children. Fathers are the pillars of a family and every kid will follow the words of their father. The movie clearly frames the ways which fathers handle to make their children shine in the society.

In the movie, Samuthirakani (Dhayalan) plays the role of Kakka Muttai Vignesh's (Vettri) father. He gives full freedom to his son, at the same time he also teaches his son about the good and the bad found in the society. He also teaches his son how to mingle with girls. Banu (Gabriella) and Nandini (Yuva Lakshmi) plays the role of Vettri's friends. Thambi Ramaiah (Singaperumal) plays a role just opposite to Samuthirakani's character. He is a strict father who dumps his own dreams and ambitions into his son Raghav (Chakkaravarthy). He always wants his son to concentrate on education but not on other extra- curricular activities. Thambi Ramaiah's role typically portraits the mentality of Indian parents on children. Namo Narayanan (Nadunilayan) plays the role of Nasath's (Mayilvaganam) father. He teaches his son to stay calm and wanted him to mind his own business without involving into outsider's activities. He is neither strict nor in a position to guide his own child. All the three families are residing in the same place and the children are brought up in different family situations and circumstances. The one thing that unites all the three children is the friendship between them. The movie revolves around the characters of the three children and their families.

Overall the film is all about the things that happen in the life of these 3 children because of the parental activities of their fathers.

National award winner Samuthirakani , as usual proved his acting skills through the character Dhayalan. Thambi Ramaiah gives his best and especially his acting in the climax scene is really awesome. Vignesh who played the role of Samuthirakani's son attracts the audience through his impressive acting. Raghav who played the role of Thambi Ramaiah's son succeeds while delivering the fear in his face. The young girls Gabriella and Yuva Lakshmi have utilized their roles well. Nasath who played the role of Namo Narayanan's son is the entertainment character in the movie. Apart from the entertainment side, he scores good marks while delivering the emotional dialogues. The background score of Ilayaraja is not up to the mark but is simply breezing, especially the music played at the climax scene gives an emotional touch to the audience.
The biggest plus point of Appa is the dialogues. All the dialogues have a message to the parents. The movie is directed and produced by Samuthirakani. He delivers lot of much needed messages to the parents on how to raise their children.

As suggested by the title, Samuthirakani delivers the message through three different kinds of father and their sons. He has managed well to give a good message to the adults through his movie 'Appa'.

Though Appa preaches a lot, all the messages delivered in the movie are highly acceptable. Appa is a must watch movie.

Watch Appa with your family especially with children.
