Combined Selection Screening Exam 2016 for PGT, TGT, PRT recruitment in Indian Army Public Schools

Every year an online screening exam for the employment of teachers in Army Public Schools is held on last Sunday of November or First Sunday of December. Army Welfare Education Society, shortly known as AWES, engages an agency to organize the examination. Accordingly, registration of online applications for short listing of teachers for APS through selection exam 2016 has been commenced.

Details of vacant posts

Out of approx 8000 teachers in total 137 numbers Army Public Schools across whole country almost 2000 vacancies are formed every year due to various reasons. However, exact numbers of vacancies will be notified during the publication of advertisement of interviews or selection of teachers.

Basis of appointment

  • Candidates as PGT will be recruited on regular basis with a probation period of one year which may be extended up to two years.
  • 50% of TGTs are on the rolls of any schools will be appointed on regular basis based on seniority and others who are CTET / TET qualified will be engaged on contract basis for a period of 3 years which may be extended further.
  • 30% of PRTs are on the rolls of any schools will be appointed on regular basis based on seniority and others who are CTET / TET qualified will be engaged on contract basis for a period of 3 years which may be extended further.

Eligibility for the employment

    • For the post of PGT, candidates should have 50% marks both in relevant Post Graduation and B.Ed. degree.
    • For TGT and PRT vacancies, applications must have 50% marks both in Graduation in concerned disciplines and B.Ed. degree.
  1. For the regular as well as contractual posts of TGT and PRT, all applicants must be CTET / TET qualified conducted by state governments. However, candidates without CTET / TET may also be appointed on adhoc basis until the qualification is achieved.
  2. Age of the candidates should be as follows as on 1st April 2016:
    • Age of any fresher should be below 40 years. For NCR schools, candidates applying for TGT / PRT vacancies must be aged below 29 years whereas it should be below 36 years for those who are interested to apply for PGT.
    • Experienced candidates must be aged below 57 years.
    • Experienced candidates should be experienced of at least five years in teaching field in the last ten years.
But point to be noted that the qualification of CTET / TET is not essential to appear in the CSB Screening Exam 2016. Interested candidates are suggested to read eligibility details of CSB Screening Exam 2016 for more specific information.

Selection process

There are three steps for the selection of teachers.
  1. Screening exam: In this stage an online examination will be held on. Based on the result of the examination qualified candidates will be provided a score card. This score card is very important for any teacher in his / her teaching career. Because this card will not only give the clearance to rest part of the selection procedure but through it candidates may also pick up a teaching job within next three years in any CBSE affiliated school.
  2. Successful candidates will be called for an interview in the next stage.
  3. In final stage teaching skills and computer proficiency of the candidates will be evaluated.

Only online registration of application will be accepted. Interested candidates to apply for the vacancies have to register their applications at online portal,

Application fees

A non-refundable payment of Rs. 600/- needs to be submitted online through debit card / credit card / net banking / bank challan during the online application registration process.

Candidates will be intimated through e-mail or SMS once the application is registered successfully.

Important dates

  • Online portal has been activated on 17th August and will remain live till 13th September 2016.Admit card will be available online from 15th November 2016 tentatively.
  • Screening examination will be held on 26th / 27th November 2016.
  • Results will be published on 15th December 2016.
