Online applications for West Bengal School Education Department Primary Teachers recruitment 2016

Looking for primary school teaching opportunities in India? This article provides complete information about the WBSED primary school teaching job vacancies available in various districts of West Bengal, as notified by the West Bengal Board of Primary Education. Details of who can qualify, the application fee and application process are also provided.

The West Bengal Board of Primary Education has issued a recruitment notification for appointment of Primary Teachers. Candidates who are Teacher Eligibility Test (TET)-2014 qualified can apply for the posts of Assistant Teachers to fill up 42,949 vacancies in Govt. aided/sponsored Primary/Junior schools which are under the jurisdiction of the District Primary School Council/Primary School Council.

Eligibility requirements for WBSED primary school teaching jobs

  1. Age criteria: You should have completed minimum 18 years and maximum 40 years on the 1st day of January of the year of publication of recruitment advertisement.

  2. Academic qualification: You should have passed Higher Secondary from West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) with minimum 50% marks and have completed 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education which is a recognized one by the National Council of Teacher Education
    You should be a Graduate (irrespective of marks obtained) with a Diploma in Elementary Education and qualified TET.

  3. Note: (i)5% relaxation in the qualifying marks is given for reserved category candidates and ex-Servicemen. (ii) You should have studied and passed in the specific language as the first or second language at the Higher Secondary level or equivalent for which medium of instruction of the teaching post you are applying for.

  4. You should be able to read, write and speak in the language as per the medium of instruction of the post applied for.

Application fee

  1. For general and OBC category candidates: Rs. 200/-

  2. For SC/ST/PH candidates: Rs. 50/-.

Selection process

  1. Applications will be scrutinized by the Selection Committee and shortlisted candidates will be intimated about the date, time and venue for checking and verification of the requisite documents.

  2. Those whose documents are in order and qualify as per the eligibility criteria will be notified about the date, time and venue for the Viva Voce/Interview and Aptitude Test. Their performance will subsequently be assessed by the Interview Board

  3. All aspects, including academic qualifications, TET, extra-curricular activities, etc will then be computed as per a marking system, for a total of 50 marks, as listed below:
    (i) Madhyamik pass under the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent: 5 marks;
    (ii) Higher Secondary pass under the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent: 10 marks;
    (iii) Training as prescribed in sub-rule (2) of rule 6: 15 marks;
    (iv) Teacher Eligibility Test (TET): 5 marks;
    (v) Extra Curricular Activities: 5 marks. This includes:
    • Games and Sports: 1 mark

    • National Cadet Corps (NCC): 1 mark

    • Arts and Literature: 1 mark

    • Performing Art (Drama): 1 mark

    • Music: 1 mark

    (vi) Viva-Voce or Interview: 5 marks;
    (vii) Aptitude Test and Teaching Experience of Para Teacher: 5 marks. For Para Teachers teaching experience the marks are as follows:
    • 10 years or above experience: 5 marks

    • 8 years to 10 years' experience: 4 marks

    • 6 years to 8 years experience: 3 marks

    • 4 years to 6 years experience: 2 marks

    • Below 4 years experience: 1 mark

How to apply

All candidates must apply online only for all the teaching vacancies at: http://www.wbsed.gov.in/wbsed/welcome.html or at: http://www.wbbpe.org/. The application form, along with guidelines on how to fill up the online application, will be available at these 2 official websites from 30th September 2016, 6p.m.

The last date to submit the application online is 7th October 2016.
