Joint Entrance Examination-Advanced 2017 popularly known as JEE-Advanced 2017 examination date has been announced. Eligibility criteria

If you are interested to participate in this exam for the year 2017, you have to satisfy the below mentioned 5 eligible criteria.
  • Criteria 1: JEE Main Exam performance:
    The top 2,20,000 candidates in various categories of JEE main exam who have scored positive marks in Paper 1
  • Criteria 2: Age limit:
    Candidates born or after October 1,1992 are eligible to participate in this exam. But in the case of SC/ST/PWD candidates, they must be born on or after October 1,1987
  • Criteria 3: Number of attempts:
    Candidates with only a maximum of 2 attempts in 2 consecutive years will be allowed for participating in this JEE(Advanced). But if you have appeared for 2016 JEE Advanced, you are eligible to participate in JEE Advanced 2017
  • Criteria 4: Class Xll examination:
    Candidates who have appeared in the class Xll exam for the year 2016 or appearing in 2017 are eligible to participate in this exam. Also if you have appeared for the class Xll exam in the academic year 2014-2015 and your results were declared after June 2015, you can also participate in this exam
  • Criteria 5: Earlier admission at IIT:
    The candidate should not have been admitted in an IIT program in the past. Also the candidates whose admission at IITs was cancelled in the past are also not eligible. But those who have joined IIT in the year 2016 for preparatory course can apply for this year's exam

Anyway if you have qualified the JEE advanced exam, in order to get admission, you have to satisfy more criteria. If you have qualified the class 12th exam with 75% marks in 5 subjects(Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Language, any other subject) OR you have been included in the 20 percentile group according to the category of 12th class exam board, you are eligible. But for SC/ST/PWD candidates, only 65% marks is needed.
