Pramila Jayapal completed her school education in Jakarta, Indonesia, Singapore, Mumbai and Delhi as part of her father's job location. At the age of 16, Pramila traveled to US for higher studies, following her sister's path who did her studies in US. Later Pramila secured the MBA degree from North Western University USA. Initially Pramila was working in wall street as a financial analyst and later in medical equipment industry. Currently she is working in the area of social justice. She is the founder of the organization titled ' Hate Free Zone', which was later renamed as OneAmerica. Pramela wrote a book titled Pilgrimage: One women's return to a changing India by visiting almost 80 villages in 5 states including Kerala. For her great work in the social justice field, the US government honored her with Champion of Change award.

In the election, Pramila Jayapal won 132216 votes while Brady Walkinshaw got only 98,461 votes. She won by 57% votes and the oath ceremony will be held in January, which will be an historic event attended by her family members. Currently she is a member of Washington state senate.

An informative article on Pramila Jayapal who is going to be the first Indo-American woman elected in the US Congress. She is from the Democratic Party. Although she was born in India, she went to the US in 1982 and is permanently settled in Seattle. I think that her most important contribution is founding of 'Hate Free Zone' after the 9/11 attack.
