Choudhary Charan Singh National Institute of Agricultural Marketing (CCS NIAM), Jaipur has announced admission open for its Post Graduate Diploma in Agri-Business Management (PGDABM) for the academic session 2017-2019.

About NIAM

An autonomous body under Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, the National Institute of Agricultural Marketing (NIAM) was set up in 1988 with the goal to educate and impart training people in the field of agricultural marketing. Research and consultancy services are also offered by the institute. It is one of the best management colleges in India offering course in Agricultural Marketing.

The campus classrooms are air-conditioned with audio-visual teaching aids and students can avail of the library facilities to update their knowledge on what they learn from books, periodicals and newspapers. Two computer centres provides for individual desktops for each student. Seminars and conferences are conducted in the conference hall premises having an auditorium where cultural activities too are organized. There are separate hostel facilities for both boys and girls.

Scholarships are offered to meritorious students.

About NIAM PGDAM course

The Post Graduate Diploma in Agri-Business Management (PGDABM) offered by NIAM is All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) approved. It is a 2 years residential program for those interested in taking up a career in agri-business sectors like agri-business consultancy, food retailing, commodity trading, exports, micro finance, etc.

There are 60 seats, with reservation as per the norms. Out of these, 50 seats are for Agri and Agri allied subjects and 10 seats for agriculture and allied subjects.

The 50 modules across 21 months comprising of 7 semesters incorporates live projects and 10 weeks summer training, with internship in agri-business companies. A practical approach to the curriculum is to take students to visit the markets in rural areas.

You should get a minimum of 45% to pass an individual course and 50% is the minimum aggregate percentage for the award of the PG diploma. If you fail in a course or do not appear for the end of term exam, you will be allowed to appear for the supplementary exam on payment of the prescribed exam fee.

Who can apply

The eligibility requirements for PGDABM are as follows:
You should have a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture or Allied Sciences/Veterinary Science from any Agriculture University or institute as recognized by ICAR.
You should have a Bachelor's Degree/equivalent qualification in any other subject like: Engineering, Social Science, Pure Science, Humanities, BCA, BBA, LLB or Economics. This qualification should have been awarded by a recognized or registered University under the University Grants Commission (UGC). Also, the degree/equivalent qualification should entail a minimum of 3 years of education after completing Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent.

You should have obtained a second Division or equivalent OGPA as per the concerned University rules, along with CAT-2016 score.

Selection process for admissions

While selecting the candidates who are eligible for admissions based on the above qualification, the weightage for final selection is:
  • CAT-2016 50%

  • Essay writing 15%

  • Group Discussion 10%

  • Personal interview 20%

  • Work Experience 5%

Selected candidates will be called for group discussion, personal interview and essay writing.

Important Notes:
  1. You must submit Photostat attested copies of a complete set of requisite documents for enrolment to the program and also produce the original documents for verification at the time of admission.

  2. You can also apply if you are completing your degree program in July-August 2017 and are unable to submit the provisional certificate & mark sheet along with the application, but the provisional degree certificate and aggregate marks / OGPA should be submitted latest by August 31, 2017.

How to apply

  1. You must register for admission online only on the prescribed application form available at CCS NIAM Website. You must mention CAT registration number while registering for CCS NIAM admissions 2017.

  2. Take a print out of application form duly filled in and send it along with a photocopy of all the relevant documents (these are: age proof, education qualification, category, achievements and experience if any, etc) to the address mentioned below along with a D.D. of Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 500/- for SC/ST candidates) in favour of Director General, NIAM, payable at Jaipur.
