B.Tech Admission 2017 through VITEEE at Vellore Institute of Technology

Vellore Institute of Technology

VIT University was started in year 1984 under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956. It is offering 4 Research Programmes, 2 Integrated courses, 34 Post graduate courses and 19 Undergraduate courses. Candidates can have option to select any of the specialization they want.

It is re-accredited by NAAC with an 'A' grade and around 24,000 students from 50 countries are studying in one campus including girls.

If we talk about its campus, it has 360-acre campus wit Eco-friendly environment and also have another campus in Chennai with an area of about 170 acre.

Regarding placements, VIT has registered its name in Limca Book of Records for Campus Recruitment.

Engineering admission details

VIT accepts hundreds of students for Engineering course every year and their admissions are based on VITEEE, that is VIT Engineering Entrance Examinations.

Details for VITEEE

The duration for entrance test is 2 hours 30 minutes and is conducted in 3 sessions each day. The timings for 3 sessions are- 1st session starts from 9.00 am till 11.30 am, 2nd session starts from 12.30 pm till 3 .00 pm and the last 3rd session starts from 4.00 pm till 6 .30 pm.

There is no provision of negative marking fro wrong answers is the best advantage a candidate can have.

Syllabus and format of Question paperThe paper includes Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (Biology is applicable for selected streams of Engineering). The whole question paper includes 125 questions, 40 from each subject and last 5 questions are from English.

Centers details

VIT has test centers in each and every state of India and all these centers have been given a unique center code. Candidates get an option to select the center code as per their suitability but VIT administration does not guarantee for that. The total number of registered candidates for any particular center decided the availability of that center. They also have centers in abroad.

Eligibility Criteria

With reference to age criteria, candidates who are born on or after 1st July 1995 are eligible for this test/ course.

Candidates should have secured 60% as an aggregate for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology in their 12th examinations. For candidates belonging to SC/ST & North Eastern State, it is 50%.

'NIOS' candidates can apply for this only if they are able to produce Migration cum Transfer Certificate. NRI, PIO and OCI holders are also eligible to apply in their foreign category.

How to apply

Candidates can apply through both Online as well as Offline modes. The application cost is Rs. 970/- for Online application which can be paid through NET Banking / Debit / Credit Card) and DD Mode. For NRI candidates, it is 50 USD. The cost of Offline application is Rs. 990/- and the forms are available at selected Post offices.

Online ApplicationCandidate need to prepare documents in advance for applying online. It includes scanned copy of recently clicked passport size color photograph. It should be 10KB to 200 KB (Dimensions - 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm) in size. The scanned copy of signature of candidate is also required with 10KB to 200 KB (Dimensions - 3.5 cm x 1.5 cm) size. The format must be in JPG / JPEG.
Candidates also need to have a valid email id and Mobile number as all the correspondence will be done through emails and phone calls only.
Once all the documents are ready, candidate can start his/her application at "http://vtop2.vit.ac.in:8080/VITEEE/"

Offline Applicationfor offline application, candidate need to buy the forms from selected post offices as mentioned above. The completed filled form should be dispatched to the address as mentioned below-
