NIOS online admissions Class X and XII Stream-1 Block-II through October 2017 exam

National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), which is an autonomous institution under MHRD, Govt. of India invites applications from students for registering for the online admission to Secondary (Class X) and Senior Secondary (Class XII) for Stream-1 Block-II for exam in October 2017.

Eligibility requirements

For Secondary (Class X)

  1. Age: You should be 14 years of age as on 31st January 2017.

  2. You should have passed Class VIII or Self Certificate (as prescribed in the admission form).

  3. You should have valid address proof.

For Senior Secondary (Class XII)

  1. You should be 15 years of age as on 31st January 2017.

  2. You should have passed Secondary (Class X) from any recognized Board.

  3. You should have valid address proof

Admission fee

For Secondary (Class X)

  1. For male candidates: Rs.1,485/-

  2. For female candidates: Rs.1,210/-

  3. Exempted categories, SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen and PWD: Rs.990/-

For Senior Secondary (Class XII)

  1. For male candidates: Rs.1,650/-

  2. For female candidates: Rs.1,375/-

  3. Exempted categories, SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen and PWD: Rs.1,075/-

Transfer of Credit Fee: Rs.150 per subject for all candidates.
Note: there is an additional fee of Rs.0/- towards cost of the online application form.

Main features of the courses

  • The admission is valid for 5 years.

  • You can select your own NIOS study centre.

  • There is the option of Transfer of Credit (TOC) up to 2 subjects passed from a recognized Board and up to 4 subjects in case passed from NIOS.

  • Online admission under Stream III and IV is open throughout the year for unsuccessful learners who would like to appear through On Demand Exam System (ODES) for Secondary and Senior Secondary courses.

Admission for NIOS-ITI scheme courses

NIOS offers admissions for academic courses under its NIOS-ITI scheme. Under this scheme, ITI learners who have completed or are currently pursuing a 2-years NSQF compliant course after Class 8 and Class 10 are eligible to take admission for Secondary (Class X) and Senior Secondary (Class XII) of NIOS respectively. You can opt for credit transfer of up to 3 core subjects which you have successfully completed as an ITI trainee in any of the regular courses under the 2 years of Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) of NCVT. NIOS will offer 2 subjects, including one language to complete the requirement for Secondary/Senior Secondary certification.
