On the tracks of Indian Railways' history, a special moment was created on 22nd May 2017 when the Tejas Express was flagged off at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Mumbai. The Tejas Express entered the history records for being the country's first semi-high speed fully air-conditioned train with fabulous interiors and top-notch facilities. The excitement was palpable, with people, passengers on this train or not, milling around to take photographs alongside the train.

Train features

Tejas Express will hurtle along the tracks at a speed of 200kmph. It is a fully air-conditioned train with 19 coaches and the following facilities:
  • Wi-Fi service
  • CCTV, fire and smoke detection facilities for safety & security of passengers.
  • LED TV in the seat-back
  • Tea / coffee vending machines and snack tables in each coach
  • Bio-vacuum toilets
  • GPS-based passenger information system




Tejas Express Schedule

From the year of its launch, Tejas Express has been operating between Mumbai and Goa, for five days a week in the current pre-monsoon period.

The schedule is:
  1. Train No.22119 departs from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Mumbai at 05.00 hours on every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It will arrive at Karmali station in Goa at 13.30 hours on the same day.
  2. The return train is Train No.22120, which departs from Karmali at 14.30 hours on every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It will arrive at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Mumbai at 23.00 hours the same day.


During the monsoon period from June to October (check dates at the official site - it is generally after 10th June to the end of October), Tejas Express will run for three days a week.

The schedule is:
  1. Train No.22119 departs from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Mumbai at 05.00 hours on every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. It will arrive at Karmali station in Goa at 15.30 hours on the same day.
  2. Train No.22120 departs from Karmali at 07.30 hours on every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. It will arrive at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Mumbai at 19.45 hours on the same day.

Halts on route both ways:

  • Dadar
  • Thane
  • Panvel
  • Ratnagiri
  • Kudal


Composition of the train: 19 coaches, with One Executive Air-conditioned Chair car and 12 Air-conditioned chair cars.

Revised Schedule as of March 2019

Central Railway has announced a change in days of service of 22119/22120 CST-Karmali Tejas Express with effect from 11th June 2019. The revised schedule is as follows:
  1. Train No. 22119:
    Departure from: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus
    Existing days (non-Monsoon season): Except Monday, Thursday
    Revised days (non-Monsoon season): No Change
    Existing days (Monsoon season): Monday, Wednesday, Saturday
    Revised days (Monsoon season): Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday.
  2. Train No. 22120:
    Departure from: Karmali
    Existing days (non-Monsoon season): Except Monday, Thursday
    Revised days (non-Monsoon season): No Change
    Existing days (Monsoon season): Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday
    Revised days (Monsoon season): Wednesday, Friday, Sunday.

Additionally, passengers should note the following Non-Monsoon season timings of the following Mumbai-Goa trains with immediate effect::
  1. Train No. 22119:
    Departure from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at 05.00hrs.
    Arrival at Karmal at 14.00hrs.
  2. Train No. 22120:
    Departure from Karmali at 14.40hrs.
    Arrival at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus: 23.15hrs.
  3. Train No.12051:
    Departure from Dadar at 05.25hrs.
    Arrival at Madgaon at 14.10hrs.
  4. Train No. 12052:
    Departure from Madgaon at 14.40hrs.
    Arrival at Dadar at 23.15hrs.


On board Catering services

The ticket fare (refer to tariff below) will include Rs.20/- for all passengers for all classes towards packaged drinking water and newspapers which are provided to all irrespective of whether or not they have opted for the onboard meals service.

If you wish to opt for the onboard catering service of Tejas Express, the service will be included in your ticket fare. If you do not opt for the catering service at the time of booking the ticket and decide later to purchase a meal on board, then an extra amount of Rs.50/- per service is charged in addition to the prescribed catering charges (subject to availability.)

The ticket price of Tejas Express is:
  1. Mumbai to Karmali (Goa):
    • AC chair car seat: Rs.1,190/-
    • Executive AC chair car seat: Rs.2,590/-
  2. Mumbai to Ratnagiri:
    • AC chair car seat: Rs. 835/-
    • Executive AC chair car seat: Rs. 1,785/-

  3. Mumbai to Kudal:
    • AC chair car seat: Rs. 1,080/-.
    • Executive AC chair car seat: Rs.2,340/-

Bookings for Tejas Express have opened at all Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters at railway stations and online at IRCTC website. You can open an account at this portal and book your ticket.
