Yoga-India's contribution for well being of international community
The concept and practice of Yoga was originated, developed and available in India many thousand years ago. It was developed by the ancient Rishis.
Since 2015, June 21st is observed annually as International Day of Yoga. On 11 December 2014 the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution commemorating 21 June as the International Day of Yoga. The uniqueness in this is that the draft text received broad support from 170 Member States who adopted the text without a vote* and the 5 permanent members.Through the unanimously passed resolution UN has recognised that "that yoga provides a holistic approach to health and well-being" and that, " wider dissemination of information about the benefits of practising yoga would be beneficial for the health of the world population"
Narendra Modi, Indian Prime MInister said that "Yoga is an invaluable gift of ancient Indian tradition". It is now accepted and welcomed by the international community by the unanimous adoption of UN resolution. The international human community is definitely going to benefit by Yoga.
Yoga- not just an exercise but a holistic approach to health and well being
Indian Prime Minister in his address to UN General Assembly on September 27, 2014.had said:
"Yoga embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well being" ."Yoga is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with ourselves, the world and Nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help us to deal with climate change"
The pledge line for International Yoga Day 2017 is " I pledge to make Yoga an integral part of my daily life".
In order to disseminate Yoga to the benefit of all countrymen, Indian government has a special Ministry for Yoga . It is Ministry of Ayush- Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH)
What is yoga
For people of India in older generations, it was an automatic routine .As a routine habit and tradition itself our ancestors involved and imbibed yoga in many of their daily routine postures,rituals and life style. For the present generation it is just a very familiar term. As said earlier Yoga is of and for body and mind. It is also of emotion and energy. Hence Indian scripts teach us about Karma Yoga (related to body), Jnaana Yoga(related to mind) Bhakti Yoga(related to emotion) and Kriya yoga(related to energy).The Yoga practised under different system follow one or more of the above four categories.
Necessity of a teacher for learning Yoga
The ancient texts on Yoga have emphasised the need to learn Yoga under a proper Guru or teacher. Though we commonly hear about only 'Aasanas' in relation to Yoga. It is not as simple as that. There are rules and regulations and restrictions. These have to be learned and observed under proper guidance.

Let us fervently hope that gradually on yoga becoming part and parcel of every one's daily life the following universal prayer from the Upanishads will become reality.
"Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah;
Sarve Santu Niraamayaah ;
Sarve Bhadraani Pashyantu;
Om Shaantih Shaantih Shaantih."
(May all be happy; May all be free from Illness; May all see good and auspicious; May no one suffer;Let everyone have Peace, Peace, Peace)
Let that happen. Let the journey start from a basic training in Yoga.
A well organised article very relevant with its title. We all know Yoga originated and developed in our country but our youth is not that interested in it as they should be. They are crazy after new gadgets and technology. They are spending their time on internet and social media. Most of youths are not active sports person and they like to sit idle with their smartphone in their hand. This idleness is a serious threat to their health. Stress is increasing daily n daily due to heavy competition in daily life. In this modern life-style Yoga is like a panacea which can decrease the stress level, maintains the body and keep one fit and healthy. It provides eternal happiness and peace soul and mind which is very necessary for proper functioning of human body.
Therefore, I would like to appeal everyone to take interest in Yoga and have a healthy and successful life.
