Diploma courses

The duration of the course is 3 years. Candidates who have passed class 10th or any equivalent examination from a recognized board can apply for diploma in printing technology. It is an integrated full-time course and the lateral entry candidates can also apply. The duration of the course for lateral entry candidates is 2 years.

Certificate courses

Other than the diploma course in printing technology, many certificate courses are also available in some institutes for printing technology. The duration of the certification course is 1 year. The course duration may vary depending upon the institute.

Voc Printing Technology is one such course introduced under the new initiative designed by UGC. The duration of the course is 3 years. Candidates who have passed 12th in any stream from a recognized board can apply for B. Voc printing technology. The course is offered only in some institutions.

B.E/B.Tech Printing Technology

The duration of the course is 4 years. For admission into B.E printing technology and B.Tech printing technology, candidates must have passed class 12 with mathematics and physics as compulsory subjects. Some colleges admit students into B.E/B.Tech printing technology course based on the score of a candidate in state-level engineering entrance exam or JEE Main exam. Candidates who have a diploma degree in printing technology can also join B.E/B.Tech printing technology in 2nd year as a lateral entry.

Higher education

Candidates who wish to pursue higher education after a bachelor's degree in printing technology can apply for a master's degree in printing technology. The higher education courses available for printing technology are listed below.

M.E/M.Tech Printing Technology

The duration of the course is 2 years. Candidates who have a bachelor's degree in printing technology or packaging technology can apply for M.E/M. Tech Printing Technology. Admission into master's degree is purely based on the score of a candidate in GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) or any state level engineering entrance exam.


Interested candidates who wish to hold a Ph.D. in printing technology after completing a master's degree in printing technology or any other related field can apply for full time or part time Ph.D. programme in a renowned university.


After completing a bachelor's degree in printing technology, candidates who wish to develop the management skills and entrepreneur skills can apply for MBA. Holding an MBA degree after B.E/B/Tech technology will help a candidate to take up the management activities in printing presses, advertising agencies, publishing houses, etc. Also, printing technologists who wish to setup own printing press can join MBA.
