During summer months it is a common sight on the roadsides in Kerala and Tamilnadu people selling tender coconuts. People passing through these temporary shops stop there and proceed after drinking the coconut water. This water intake simply refreshes the traveller. This water is taken from within the coconut after cutting open the skin of the coconut. This is done in front of the traveller

Tender coconut water has lot of health benefits and it is really tasty. It helps us in feeling refreshed and nourished. It is a very good source of dietary fiber. People with Chickenpox are advised to have tender coconut water. Also it is good for people with urinary tract infections.

Glad to note that it helps to fight stress, depression and acidity.It is often used like an oral rehydration solution during diahorrea and dehydration when ORS powder is not available.

It is rich in potassium, hence people with kidney failure need to be careful especially when having bananas and tender coconut water. It's common practice to ask the vendor to scoop out the pulp. Diabetic patients should be aware that this pulp is a good source of sugar.

Another interesting fact is that cocunut water was used for a short period in dire circumstances as a replacement for intravenous fluids during world war II (British army in Sri Lanka and Japanese army in Sumatra) when normal fluids were not available in emergency situations in the war field.

Yes. In rare cases the coconut water is used as a saline. It can completely control the dehydration. Doctors often suggest this for kidney stones and Urinary tract infection cases. More importantly, it cannot adulterated and is the best natural drink which is sweet in taste and can quench the thirst.

It improves digestion and is good for controlling weight gain. Another interesting fact is that it can help in preventing blood clots. We normally treat diarrhea by drinking more water or ORS to prevent dehydration but the best alternative is Coconut water which is the so called energy boosting drink.

Nowadays do not sleep well in the night due to stress which cause insomnia but if you drink this yummy tender coconut water daily, as an apple a day keeps the doctor away, it can cure both insomnia and the stress. Because of the hydrating effect you can easily get super soft skin.
