Apply for Western Railway Mumbai Division Apprenticeship training program October 2017

This article provides complete information of the latest Western Railway Mumbai Division Apprenticeship training program for ITI certified, 10th pass candidates to learn the trade of an electrician, turner and welder.

Western Railway invites applications from Indian citizens for the apprenticeship training program in various trades at the Electrical Department of Mumbai Division/EMU Workshop Mahalaxmi. The duration of the training period is one year.

List of Trades and Slots

  1. Electrician in Electrical Dept. unit: 52 (SC-8; ST-4; OBC-14; UR-26; PWD-1)
  2. Turner in Mechanical Dept. unit: 2 (OBC-1; UR-2)
  3. Welder (G&S) in Mechanical Dept. unit: 1 (UR-1)

Training and Stipend

Selected candidates will sign a contract of Apprenticeship but will not have any right for regular absorption/employment in Railway services on completion of the training. However, they will be provided with 20% reservation in RRC recruitment as and when these are conducted.

Training will be arranged in accordance with the standards and syllabus prescribed by the Central Apprenticeship Councils. The selected candidates will be paid a stipend as per the extent instructions.

Note that no accommodation will be provided to the selected candidates.

Eligibility requirements

  1. Educational qualification: For all the trades, the requirement is SSC (Std.10) qualified with minimum 50% marks and ITI certification. Engineering graduates and Diploma holders are not eligible to apply.
  2. Age criteria: You should have completed 15 years of age and should not have completed 24 years of age as on 26th September 2017. The upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years in the case of SC/ST candidates and 3 years in the case of OBC candidates.

  3. Note: Those who wish to avail of the benefit of reservation must produce the Caste certificate on Central Govt. format issued by the appropriate authority.

  4. Physical standards: If you are selected, then you must pass the prescribed medical exam as per rules before induction into the training course.

Application fee

Applicants must pay a processing free of Rs.100/- through a postal order / demand draft, payable to "Chief Cashier, Church gate, Western Railway". It should be enclosed with the application form. This fee is not refundable. SC/ST/PH and women candidates are not required to pay any fee.

How to apply ?

Applications must be submitted in the prescribed Pro-forma only. The application form should be filled up in English or Hindi only in your own handwriting.

Original certificates or testimonials should not be sent along with the application, but must be produced at the time of verification of certificates. The following self-attested photo copies of certificates must be enclosed with the application:

  • Std.10 SSC mark sheet and Board certificate as proof of date of birth.
  • ITI certificate with consolidated mark sheet of all the semesters, including the final.
  • A copy of the latest caste certificate in case of SC/ST/OBC candidates issued by the District Magistrate/Mandal Revenue Officer in the prescribed proforma.
  • Physically Handicapped certificate for PWD candidates, duly issued by the competent Medical Board.
  • Two identical passport size colour photos firmly stitched in a separate cover to the application (apart from one photo pasted on the application form.)

Important dates

  1. Last date for receipt of application: 23rd October 2017, up to 16:00hrs.
  2. List of selected candidates will be displayed on 23rd November 2017 (probable date)
  3. Training commences on : 15th January 2018 (tentative date)
