A single person may have a lot of talents but a team-player will do a lot to complete a task. So It is smart to have a team to complete a task. It is not easy to work with a team and it needs some changes within you to be a better team player. We will see what are the qualities you have to improve to be a good team player.

A person with multiple talents in a working environment will compete with others to showcase their talents in a better way. This is very important for any person for his appraisal and for also promotion. It is necessary to have their own talents but it is also very important to be a good team player.

Who is a Team player

A Team player is a one who works in a team which consists of more than two persons with different talents. It is not that much easy to work in a team unless a better understanding with all the members to focus on a particular task. So a Team player is a one who works with his talent and also works with a team by utilizing their talents to complete a task in a smarter way. This will reduce the time, effort and also cost.

What is required to become a good Team player

As a single person, there is no restriction to complete his task but when coming into a team, it is very important to understand his / her team with respect to their talents and their focus level to complete a project. So it is important for a person to have good contact and conversation between team members for better understanding. If they come to know all are focussing in the same direction, then the job is easy and can move forward towards their goal.

In a team, there may be one or two members with lack of knowledge or with less focus towards their end project. Hence it has to be overcome by motivating them and make them understand their role to complete a project. So talk with them and have a good conversation for better understanding.

How to become a good team player

First, understand the output of your project or goal. Have a meeting with your team and explain the role of each team member. Make them free to ask or clarify their doubts. Break the task into two or three mini tasks and put a deadline for each mini task. For each mini-task, assign each person and explain about the output of that particular task and deadline to complete the task. Make a presentation and explain in a better way of understanding by each team member.

It is important to review your work and your team member work at frequent intervals. This will ensure the understanding of their role in that particular task. This will also help to avoid unnecessary time waste and effort if anything goes wrong at the end of the project.

After completing a project, appreciate your team by mentioning their name and their role in that project. This will really make them feel happy and they will get motivate towards next project.


Being a single person to achieve a goal or task will be a great but to working with a team towards achieving great tasks and goals will make a lot of difference. So achieve great things by working with a team and be a good team player.

A good article giving the necessities for a person to be a team player. Doing his own work and completing his task within the time-frame is the necessity of a single worker. But if you want to be a team player you have to see that your team members work together and as a leader of the team you should guide the remaining players and should bring in coordination among them. Nice timely article as many work in teams currently and so is very useful to understand the concept of teamwork. I think, it is important to be aware of teamwork so that we can work better. A team has individuals of varied skills,thrown together to complete a task much better than any one person. I feel the moment we understand this, respect each other's strengths and understand that everyone's contribution is important, then it's smooth sailing.

It is also important to know that we cannot throw a bunch of people and expect them to produce results from day one. To be good team players, they together should go through a process of interaction, settling down, gelling together and only then the team would be productive as each one becomes a good team player.
