NCHM JEE-2018 online applications for B.Sc. Hospitality & Hotel Administration admissions

National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has announced the schedule of the entrance exam which allows students to apply for the three years B.Sc. in Hospitality & Hotel Administration course for the 2018-2019 session.

About the course

The B.Sc. in Hospitality & Hotel Administration course is offered at NCHMCT affiliated hotel management institutes in India. The three-year full-time course is for six semesters. You not only get in-depth knowledge of the field but also develop the relevant technical skills which equip you to take up good career opportunities in the hospitality industry.

During your studies, you will learn all aspects of food production, service, operating the front office and housekeeping. You will thus not only learn about cuisines and food quality but also about its safety and financial, marketing, HR, etc.

Look beyond fine dining restaurants and resorts on land to catering services provided in the air on flights and offshore on large cruise ships, not to mention the vast crisscrossing network of long-distance trains. About NCHM JEE-2018

The entrance test is of three hours and will be available in both Hindi and English. Naturally, the paper of English language will be in English only. The breakup of sections & marks are as follows -
  1. Numerical Ability and Analytical Aptitude - 30 marks

  2. Reasoning and Logical Deduction - 30 marks

  3. General Knowledge & Current Affairs - 30 marks

  4. English Language - 60 marks

  5. Aptitude for Service Sector - 50 marks

Eligibility criteria

  1. You must be 10+2 passed or have an equivalent qualification from a recognized Board, with English as a subject in the qualifying exam. You should have passed English as a subject of study (core/elective/functional) in the qualifying exam.
    Other qualifying exams which will be accepted as eligible are:
    • Intermediate or two-year pre-University exam conducted by a recognized Board or University.

    • General Certificate Education (GCE) exam (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.

    • High School Certificate exam of the Cambridge University.

    • Any Public School/Board/University exam in India or in a foreign country recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to the 10+2 pattern of Senior Secondary education.

    • H.S.C. Vocational exam which is approved by National Council on Vocational Training (NCVT) and State Council on Vocational Training (SCVT) of the concerned State.

    • Senior Secondary School exam conducted by the National Open School (NIOS) with a minimum of 5 subjects which includes English as one of the subjects, the results of which should be available latest by 30th September 2018.

    Note: You will be given provisional admission if you are appearing in the 10+2 or equivalent exam, but should submit the requisite proof of having passed the exam at the time of counselling or at the time of admission or latest by 30th September 2018.

  2. Age criteria: For General, OBC and PH category students, the age should be not more than 22 years as on 1st July 2018 (born on or after 1st July 1996). For SC and ST category candidates, the age should be not more than 25 years as on 1st July 2018 (born on or after 1st July 1993).
    Important Note: Date of birth as stated in the Secondary Education Board/Pre-University Certificate will be accepted as proof. At the time of counselling, this certificate must be produced in original as a proof of age, failing which the candidate will not be considered for counselling/admission.   3. You must also submit a physical fitness certificate at the time of admission from a Registered Medical Practitioner in the prescribed format.

Reservation of seats

  • For Scheduled Caste category: 15% in both Central and State IHMs

  • For Scheduled Tribe category: 7.5 % in both Central and State IHMs

  • For OBC (Central list, non-creamy layer) category: 27% in Central IHMs

  • For Differently Abled (D.A.) category: 5% across the board as per rules.

  • Registered Kashmiri Migrants: One seat in each Central and State Government affiliated IHM.

Note: Requisite supporting documents for support of claim for reservation in original along with an attested copy must be submitted at the time of Counselling as well as at the time of admission at the IHM Institute.

Submit online application at: NCHM-JEE 2018 admission or at the NCHM official website.

Note that no provision has been made for offline application.

Application form fee

  1. Online application form fee:
    • For General and OBC category candidates: Rs.800/-

    • For SC, ST and PD category candidates: Rs.400/-

Important dates

  1. Online application begins: 24th December 2018

  2. Online application ends: 11th April 2018

  3. Availability of Admit Cards at NCHMCT website: 20th April 2018, 1700 hrs onwards

  4. Date of JEE-2018 written exam: 28th April 2018, 10a.m. to 1p.m.

  5. Result of JEE: Third week of May 2018

  6. Counselling: Last week of May 2018 and first week of June 2018

  7. Academic session begins: 25th July 2018

Note: Successful students of the entrance exam will be allotted an institute strictly in order of merit and rank. There will be no group discussions or personal interviews in this admission process.
