How to study at IIT free through FIITJEE IIT Genius Test 2018

Forum for Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination (FIITJEE) is a very well-known reputed coaching institute offering training programs for students, including ones for the economically weaker sections of society, for preparing for competitive exams, such as entrance exams to IITs, Olympiads, etc. They have centres across India, including in Mumbai, Delhi (refer to the main admissions office address provided at the end of this article, Chennai, Hyderabad, etc.

Currently, the approximate cost of taking up a full-time course at any IIT in India is about Rs.14 lakhs. This could be for an undergraduate course of four years, while for a five-year integrated course the cost could go up even more. For most students, it is thus a distant dream even if their academic scores are high and they can sail through the JEE exams. FIITJEE provides a unique opportunity to 10 students to win a scholarship and avail of getting a free education at an IIT. Who knows? One day you may be on the faculty team at FIITJEE!

Those who have the potential to become a top-ranked student in JEE Main/JEE Advanced should definitely appear for the FIITJEE IIT Genius Test. Others who could appear are –
  • A city or State level scholastic exam / competitive exam qualifier.
  • A qualifier of Junior Science Talent Search Examination (JSTSE) (for Delhi students.)
  • Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) State-I Qualifiers and KVPY Fellows.
  • A qualifier of any stage of Olympiads till Class XI.
  • A qualifier of Junior Science Olympiad.
  • An National Talent Search Exam (NTSE) scholar.
  • A school topper.

Who can apply

The IIT Genius Test is for students presently in Class 8, 9, 10 and 11 and will soon be going to Class 9, 10, 11 and 12 and are aspiring for JEE Advanced 2022, 2021, 2020 and 2019 respectively.

Important notes:
  1. You do not have to be a FIITJEE student to avail of the scholarship and award.
  2. You do not need to join any course at FIITJEE after the award.

Scholarship & Award Features

The ten students from each of Class 8, 9, 10 and 11 will be bestowed with the title of 'IIT Genius'. These students will get their education at IITs sponsored by FIITJEE. The scholarship covers all institutional expenses, including the hostel fee, tuition fee, fee for books and other reasonable expenses of approximately Rs.5,000/- per month.

The selection of the ten students will be based on the IIT Genius Test, followed by an interview.

About the Test

The registration fee is as follows –
  • Students registering for FIITJEE Test for the first time: Rs.1000/-.
  • Students who had registered in any previous edition of IIT Genius Test: Rs.800/-.
  • For Students presently Enrolled in any FIITJEE Program: Up to 28th January 2018 it is Rs. 500/-; and from 29th January to 1st February 2018, it is Rs. 700/-.

Note: If applying offline, the FIITJEE student has to submit a photocopy of the FIITJEE Identity Card / Proof of Enrolment along with the Paper Application Form. If applying online, the FIITJEE students must add the Enrolment Number to their Online Account using the Enrolment Number & web access code.

Schedule & format of test

For students currently in Class VIII, IX, X & XI, the test is objective type. It includes two papers:
  1. Paper 1 (Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics for JEE Advanced) which will be from 8:30a.m. to 12noon.
  2. Paper 2 (Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics for JEE Advanced) which will be from 1:45p.m. to 5p.m.

How to register

You can register in online or offline mode:
  1. For online registration: Log on to: New FIITJEE students should open an account first. Then update your profile & begin the online registration process. If you are already registered for a previous test or enrolled in a FIITJEE program, then you should use 'Add Registration Number'/'Add Enrollment Number' link before updating your profile. Pay the test fee using Master/Visa/Amex (Credit or Debit Cards) or through NEFT, IMPS and Paytm. On successful payment, you will be able to download the Hall ticket at the same site.
  2. For offline registration: Collect the paper application form from your nearest FIITJEE centre. Complete it and submit it at the centre along with the prescribed test fee in cash, two passport size photos and a copy of your Aadhaar Card. The hall ticket will be issued to you in person.

    Alternatively, you can send your application by post/courier along with a DD/Pay Order with two passport size photos & a copy of your Aadhaar Card to the nearest FIITJEE Centre. You will then receive your hall ticket via email. The DD/Pay Order should be in favour of FIITJEE LTD. Open Test, Aptitude Test etc. A/C, payable at respective locations mentioned against the list of Test Centres given in the information booklet.

Note: You should check the terms and conditions in the information brochure which you can collect from your nearest FIITJEE Centre.

Important dates

  1. Last date to register: 1st February 2018 (Thursday).
  2. IIT Genius Test date: 4th February 2018.
  3. Result Declaration Dates:
    • Class VIII & IX - 11th February, 2018; Interview at Delhi - 15th & 16th February, 2018; Final result is on 23rd February, 2018.
    • Class X & XI - 10th February, 2018; Interview at Hyderabad - 17th & 18th February, 2018; Final result is on 23rd February, 2018.
