SBI online recruitment for Junior Associates in clerical cadre January 2018

Are you looking for bank clerk job vacancies in India? The 2018 SBI online recruitment drive is on for hiring over 8000 people for customer support & sales posts in the clerical cadre. State Bank of India (SBI) has issued a recruitment notification to hire smart candidates who are Indian citizens for the position of Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales ) in Clerical Cadre. There are 8301 vacancies in all, including 1101 backlog vacancies for SC, ST and OBC candidates. A candidate can apply for a vacancy in one State only and must have proficiency in speaking, writing, reading and understanding the opted local language of the State. Note that the test for this language will also be part of the selection process, to be conducted after the online main exam, and if you fail this test, then you will not get an appointment offer. However, if you the 10th of 12th Std. marksheet or certificate which indicates having studied the specified opted local language, then you do not need to appear for the language test.

Eligibility requirements

All eligibility criteria is applicable as of 1st January 2018.

Educational Qualification

You should be a graduate in any discipline from a recognized university or possess an equivalent qualification which is recognized by the Central Govt. of India. In case you have an Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) certificate, the date of passing should be on or before 1st January 2018.

A matriculate ex-serviceman who has obtained the Indian Army Special Certificate of Education, or a corresponding qualifying certificate of the Navy or Air Force, having completed not less than 15 years service in the Armed Forces, can also apply. The certificate date should be on or before 1st January 2018.

Age criteria

You should be not below 20 years and not above 28 years. That is, the date of birth should not be earlier than 2nd January 1990 and not later than 1st January 1998 (both dates inclusive.)

There is provision of relaxation of the upper age limit as follows -
  1. SC/ST: 5 years.
  2. OBC: 3 years.
  3. PWD (General): 10 years.
  4. PWD (SC/ST): 15 years.
  5. PWD (OBS): 13 years.
  6. Persons domicilied in J&K between 1/1/1980 and 31/12/1989.

Selection process

There will first be a preliminary exam, then the main exam & later a language test of specified opted local language. Marks of the prelim exam will not be added for the selection and only the aggregate marks for the main exam will be considered for the merit list.

The online preliminary exam is of 100 marks, with objective type questions. The one-hour exam will have three sections, with each section having a separate time:
  1. English Language: 30 questions, 30 marks (20 minutes).
  2. Numerical Ability: 35 questions, 35 marks (20 minutes).
  3. Reasoning Ability: 35 questions, 35 marks (20 minutes).

The online main exam is also of objective type, with total 200 marks. The exam is of 2 hours & 40 minutes with the following sections, with each section have a separate time:
  1. General/Financial Awareness: 50 questions, 50 marks (35 minutes).
  2. General English: 40 questions, 40 marks (35 minutes).
  3. Quantitative Aptitude: 50 questions, 50 marks (45 minutes).
  4. Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude: 50 questions, 60 marks (45 minutes).

Application fee (not refundable): Rs. 100 for SC/ST/PWD/Ex-Servicemen; Rs. 600 for General & OBC candidates.

Note: Pre-exam training is available as an option for SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen & Religious minority community candidates at their own cost at select training centres. Those opting for this training need to download the call letter on 25th January 2018.

How to apply

You need to first register online at Ensure that you have a valid email ID and contact mobile phone number before you register. After registration, apply and pay the online application fee.

You will also require to have a scanned photograph and scanned signature for uploading. Please read the guidelines for these in the official notification.

On successful completion of your online application, an e-receipt will be generated along with the completed application form. You can take a print out of these for your record. However, do not send the printout to the bank.
