How to submit applications for RTE online schools admissions Mumbai 2018-2019

Looking for the 2018 Maharashtra RTE admissions online application form? Eager to get your child admission this year to a school in Mumbai under the RTE 25% quota? This article provides complete information of the Maharashtra schools' 2018 admissions to children in Mumbai & other cities of Maharashtra under the 25% quota as per the Right to Education (RTE) Act.

Based on the Right to Education (RTE) Act, children of families who are from economically weaker sections of society can get admission to an unaided non-minority school under a 25% quota at their entry level. These children can get free schooling till Class 8 in the school where they got the admission. The Government is supposed to reimburse the school's administration for the students' education.

As of the date of this article, schools in a few Districts will be completing the online registrations today to list their school name for RTE vacancies. However, the online schedule for parents is currently open only for Ahmadnagar schools, from 7th February to 28th February. The online schedule for other Districts will be updated later. In the meanwhile, parents can learn the details of the online application procedure through this article. The details provided here is applicable to schools in all Districts of the State of Maharashtra, including Mumbai.

Eligible children for schools admissions under RTE quota

  1. Children of families who are from disadvantaged groups, including:
    • Scheduled castes

    • Scheduled tribes

    • Those suffering from 40% or more disability

  2. Children of families who are from Economically Weaker Sections, including:
    • Vimukta Jati Nomadic Tribes (VJNT)

    • Other Backward Classes (OBC)

    • Special Backward Class (SBC)

    • Those from families whose annual income is less than Rs. 1 lakh

Documents required for RTE quota admissions

The documents required for those applying from disadvantaged groups are:
  1. Birth certificate - if you do not have one, get a duplicate one right away

  2. Proof of residence: This could be any of the following:
    • UID Aadhar Card - in case you have lost it, get a duplicate one quickly

    • Passport

    • Election Photo Identity Card

    • Electricity bill

    • Telephone bill

    • Water bill

    • A house tax receipt

    • A driving license issued by the competent authority in the name of the parents/guardians.

  3. The caste certificate issued by concerned Sub Divisional Officer (Revenue) or Deputy Collector, in the name of child or parent.

  4. For disabled children (CWSN), a disability certificate issued by Civil Surgeon/Superintendent of Government notified hospitals having disability of more than 40%.

  5. Recent passport size colour photograph of the child.

The documents required for those from applying from economically weaker sections are:
  1. Birth certificate.

  2. Proof of residence (refer above for which type) which is duly attested by an official authority.

  3. Income certificate issued by the Revenue officer not below the rank of Tahsildar.

  4. Recent passport size colour photograph of the child.

How to apply

  1. Go to the official website's online application page

  2. Make an application ID by clicking on "New Registration" button.

  3. Enter details of the child's Name (last name, first name, middle name), the child's date of birth, the District where you are currently residing, a valid mobile number and a valid email ID. Important: Make sure that you put the date of birth correctly, as you cannot change this once it is entered into the system.

    Check details submitted and then click on the 'Register' button.

  4. An application number and a password will be sent to you on your registered mobile contact number.

  5. Now you can log in as an existing user, by entering the application number sent to you, the password sent to you and the 'Captcha' which appears on the screen.

  6. Fill in details of the child for whom admission is being sought as well as the details of the parent(s).

  7. Locate and mention the school to which you wish to get admission for your child. Note that the schools which you select should be within 1km and up to a maximum of 3kms distance from your place of residence.

  8. Next, you have to select the required standard (Class).

  9. Ensure that you do re-check all the information you entered before you make the final submission.

  10. Once you have completed & submitted the application, you must take a print out of the application and take it along for admission, with the required documents.

Important: You do not have to upload all the required documents (the list of documents is provided in this article above). Instead, these should be produced only at the time of admission at the school. The photograph of the child should also not be uploaded. However, you need to keep the documents at hand during the registration process, so that you enter the details accurately & exactly as stated in the relevant document.

School Admission process

  1. Admissions to the selected school is based on a lottery system for schools which have fewer seats. Those having more vacancies and fewer applications will allot the seats to all applicants. The school will give priority to children residing within the range of 1km radius from the school and then for the candidates residing within the range of 2-3kms radius from the school. The school cannot charge any fee, neither for any application form nor for admission to the school.

  2. The schools using the lottery system will have the lottery drawn by the local district administration i.e. the primary Education officer of the district.

  3. The selection list of children who will get admission will be published online on the existing system. The parents can view this list via application login.

  4. The parent needs to take a print out of the Admit card and approach the school which will then give admission to the child after completing any further necessary requirements.

I would like to take admission for my child through RTE (Right To Education) quota nearby Powai area, his DOB is 17/10/2014.
So how many years he needs to complete, which school included in Powai area. When will the admissions start?

You will have to look out for the notification for 2019 admissions, this notification generally being released in leading newspapers in the month of February. As per your child's date of birth, it is likely that admission will be to Junior KG. I had checked out the official website and for the 2018 admissions, Powai area was not listed in the list of schools. There was a list of schools in Andheri, though. You could check out the list later at the official website in February when the next round of admissions begins. You can also check back at this site itself to go through the article providing information about 2019 RTE online admissions as the relevant details may be submitted as well.
