COMEDK UGET-2018 online applications for engineering courses in Karnataka

Are you going to apply for 2018 admission to an engineering course in a Karnataka college or university? You need to appear for the common entrance exam in May to be eligible to apply for engineering courses in Karnataka. This article provides details of the COMEDK UGET-2018 entrance exam. The same exam's scores will be considered for admission to Uni-GAUGE institutes.

The Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) invites applications for admission to approximately 20,000 seats in undergraduate engineering courses in 150 engineering member enginnering colleges in Karnataka for the academic session 2018-2019. For these seats, COMEDK is conducting an online entrance exam all over India on 13th May 2018 at 300 centres, which will be followed by offline counselling. The exam is not just for residents of Karnataka. Anybody from any State can appear for the COMEDK UGET-2018 exam.

Candidates should note that COMEDK UGET and Uni-GAUGE E will be conducted as a combined exam on the same date. Uni-GAUGE is the test assessment platform of Educational Rating and Assessment (ERA) Foundation (website provided at the end of this article).

Successful candidates will receive two separate scorecards with which they can apply for admission to both COMEDK as well as to Uni-GAUGE institutes. A Rank Card will be generated for those candidates who would be eligible for admission to undergraduate courses as per the regulations of AICTE / VTU.

Eligibility requirements

  1. To get admission for B.E. courses, you should have passed second PUC or 10+2 Higher Secondary or an equivalent exam which is recognized by the State Govt. / Central Govt. During the last two years of academics, you should have taken up Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with English as a compulsory subject.

  2. If you are a general merit candidate, then you should have passed with a minimum aggregate of 45% (40% for SC, ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka State) in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. You should also have passed these subjects individually. Note that Physics and Mathematics are mandatory subjects, along with Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology or Computer Science or Electronics as one of the optional subjects. However, changes, if any, in the eligibility criteria by the AICTE will be adopted.

  3. Those who have a Diploma are ineligible to appear for the entrance test.

Important note: You must submit the original marks' card of the exam at the time of counselling as proof of your eligibility, that is, of the marks scored as indicated by the original marks' card.

Application fee

The payment of the fee should be done in online mode only, via Net Banking, Credit Card and Debit Card. Please check *Convenience charges before payment
  1. For COMEDK only: Rs 1300+ *GST of 18% on Rs 1300 + Convenience charge/fee as applicable (this will be on transaction).

  2. For COMEDK and Uni-GUAGE combined: Rs 2100+ *GST of 18% on Rs 2100 + Convenience charge/fee as applicable.

How to apply

Before registration, note –
  1. Software requirements for application online: Internet Explorer (version 10 and above) or Mozilla Firefox (48 and above) or Google Chrome (50 and above). To avoid technical issues, it is a good idea to clear the browsing history and cache.

  2. Ensure that you have a valid E-mail ID and mobile number

  3. The name which you enter in the online application should be exactly as it appears in your SSLC/10th Std. marks card. If for any reason, you have changed your name, then you need to produce the original proof of the same at the time of admission.

  4. The date of birth which you enter in your online application should be exactly the same as that in your 10th /SSLC Marks card.

  5. Documents to keep ready for uploading are:
    • Your photo: This must be a colour photo with a light background and should not be more than three months old. The scanned photo should be in .jpg or .jpeg format, less than 80 kb. Ensure that the photo is a full face view looking into the camera directly and has complete clarity. You can check the preview page to see if the photo is clear, with no part of the face in shadow or covered with a cloth.

    • Your signature: Put your signature on a white paper with a black pen and scan it, with dimensions of 35mm height x 40 mm width. It should be of a maximum file size of 80 kb in .jpg or .jpeg format. You can check the preview page to see that there is clarity of the signature. For signature of father/guardian, the same norms apply.

    • Unique ID proof: This can be any one of the following - (i) Voter ID, (ii) Passport (iii) Driving License, (iv) Aadhar Card / E-Aadhar. You need to use the same ID proof that is mentioned in the application form till the entire admission process is completed. Any ID proof which is other than submitted will not be accepted for the test/admission to the course.

      The ID proof should be in .jpg or .jpeg format, with a maximum file size of 150 kb. In case the ID proof is more than one page, then you need to combine the pages, scan & upload them as a single image only for uploading.

  6. Whatever details you fill in at the time of registration cannot be edited later in the application form. It is therefore very important to review all details before you click on the submit button and proceed to the application form.

Registration to appear for COMEDK UGET-2018 should be done in online mode only at: https://www.unigauge.com/engineering-entrance-exam/.

Once you have successfully completed the registration process, you will receive a User ID & password on your Mobile Number and Email ID. You can then log in with the ID and password and click on "Go to Application" button in the top right hand corner of your screen to proceed to fill up the online application form.

COMEDK UGET-2018 Test format

The entrance test is based on the existing syllabus of 10 + 2/12th STD/2nd PUC.

The test is in English medium only, of 3 hours' duration, from 10a.m. to 1p.m. with a total of 180 multiple choice questions, 60 each for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Each correct answer will be given 1 mark and no negative marks will be given for wrong answers.

  1. Registration and online application begins: 16th January 2018.

  2. Mock test available online: 5th February 2018.

  3. Last date for online payments and submission of application online: 19th April 2018.

  4. Test Admission Ticket available at website from: 4th May 2018.

  5. Last date to download the Online Test Admission Ticket(TAT): 12th May 2018.

  6. COMEDK UGET & Uni-GAUGE E 2018 Engineering Entrance Exam 2018: 13th May 2018.

  7. Provisional Answer Keys will be published on: 17th May 2018.

  8. Submission of objections/challenge the answer keys: 17th May to 21st May 2018.

  9. Final Answer keys will be published on: 25th May 2018.

  10. Test Score cards will be available online on: 28th May 2018.
