University of Mumbai BMS-MBA admissions announcement 2018-2019

The University of Mumbai has announced the admission notification for the 5-year integrated management program BMS-MBA for the academic year 2018-2019 at its Thane sub-campus. You can get admission to the program on the basis of your position in the list of the All India Merit Rank of Mumbai University Common Management Entrance Test (MUCMET). The fee for the entrance test is Rs.500/-, to be paid by Demand Draft (DD). Candidates of the PWD and Reserved category should pay Rs. 250/-.
The total number of seats is 60. Out of these, 85% of the seats are reserved for those who are qualified and domiciled in the State of Maharashtra.

About the course

The BMS-MBA program is being offered at the Thane campus of the University of Mumbai. Set up in 2014, the sub-campus has a library, a computer centre and a digital seminar hall.

The course provides a good selection of major and minor specializations, such as HR, finance, etc. In addition to the academic theoretical aspects of the subjects, you will also gain knowledge about business ethics, understand various aspects of corporate leadership, learn presentation skills and business etiquette, etc.

Guest lectures are organized wherein eminent people from the academic field as well as the corporate sectors have interactive sessions with the students.

Eligibility requirements

  1. You should have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate exam/Intermediary (10+2) or have an equivalent certificate from a recognized Board.

  2. You should have scored a minimum of 45% aggregate (40% for reserved category candidates) from Science, Commerce, Arts or any other stream/discipline.

  3. You should be below 20 years of age as on 19th May 2018 for MUCMET (22 years for reserved category and PWD candidates).


The Mumbai University Common Management Entrance Test (MUCMET) is of 100 marks which you have to complete within the duration of two hours. There are 50 objective type questions in the format of multiple choices. For a correct answer you will get one mark and for an incorrect answer negative marks will be given of -0.25 marks
Totally there are four sections:
  1. Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension: This section will be an assessment of English language skills. You will be given a passage with questions related to its content, such as synonyms or antonyms of words, grammar & vocabulary, sentences & phrases, etc. Check out our Learn English section to prepare for the test.

  2. Quantitative Aptitude: You will be answering questions related to numbers and arithmetical problems. An interpretation of graphs and general quantitative reasoning will also be included.

  3. Logical / Abstract Reasoning: The questions in this section will assess your skills in interpretation of data through diagrams, graphs, etc.

  4. General Awareness: Your general knowledge will be tested as also your knowledge of current affairs, business & industry-related fields, etc.

Requirements for the Test

On the day of MUCMET you will need to bring to the centre your Hall Ticket with your recent passport-size photographs (duly signed) affixed on it in the proper place.
Do not take any gadgets into the exam hall. If you are found with a calculator, a mobile phone or any other electronic gadget, then you will be disqualified.
Before you begin answering the questions, ensure that you write your seat number & other details on your test booklet.

You must use only a black or blue ballpoint pen to mark your answers by darkening/filling one circle amongst the four options provided for each question. Do not make extra markings with the pen or a pencil and do not select more than one answer. Scratching out an answer or over-writing is also not permitted. Do not do any rough work directly on any answer sheet. Use the blank page provided in test booklet for this purpose.

How to apply

You must apply only in the prescribed application form which is available on the website of University of Mumbai'sThane Sub Campus

The completed application form should be submitted along with the Demand Draft of any nationalized bank in favour of "Finance and Accounts Officer, University of Mumbai".

  • Last date to submit application: 16th May 2018.

  • Date of test: 19th May 2018, 11a.m. to 1p.m.
