Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant January 2019 training batch admissions

Would you like to join the training course of the Indian Coast Guard for Assistant Commandant branches? This article provides complete information on how to join the Indian Coast Guard as an Assistant Commandant by applying for admission to the January 2019 training batch. Age criteria, educational qualifications and other requirements are mentioned, as also details of the selection tests and application procedure.

The Indian Coast Guard invites Indian citizens who fulfill the eligibility requirements to join the training batch of January 2019 at INA, Ezhimala for appointment to General Duty, General Duty Pilot and Commercial Pilot entry branches as an Assistant Commandant. The training is scheduled to commence at the end of December 2018.

Eligibility requirements

For all branches only those who have cleared their final year/ final semester exams and completed their degrees are eligible to apply. Those who were withdrawn from any other service training academy on grounds of indiscipline cannot apply. Those who face or have faced any criminal charges or have been arrested, convicted or prosecuted are ineligible to apply.

For General Duty and General Duty Pilot branch, only male candidates can apply. The educational qualification criteria are as follows –
  1. Educational qualification: You should have passed the Bachelor's Degree exam from any recognised university with minimum 60% marks in aggregate (i.e. first semester to the eighth semester for B.E./B.Tech. course or first year to last year for Bachelor Degree, wherever applicable).

    You must have taken Maths and Physics as subjects up to intermediate or class XII of the 10+2+3 scheme of education or equivalent with 60% aggregate in maths and physics. If these subjects have not been taken up as per the requirement, then you are ineligible to apply.

  2. Age criteria: For General Duty – you should be born between 1st July 1994 to 30th June 1998 (both dates inclusive). For General Duty Pilot - you should be born between 1st July 1994 to 30th June 2000 (both dates inclusive).

For Commercial Pilot Entry (CPL) branch, both male and female candidates can apply. The criteria required is as follows –
  1. Licence: You should be holding a current/valid Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) issued/validated by the Director General Of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

  2. Educational qualification: at least 12th pass (with Physics and math) with 60% marks in aggregate.

  3. Age: You should be born between 1st July 1994 to 30th June 2000 (both dates inclusive).

Note: Check the official notification for age relaxation.

How to apply

Submit your application online via 'Opportunities' tab at the Indian Coast Guard website.

Choose from the given options the post to be applied for, namely, Asst. Commandant General Duty or Asst. Commandant General Duty (Pilot) or Asst. Commandant (Commercial Pilot License-SSA). Do not select more than one branch; otherwise, your application will be rejected.

On clicking on " I Agree", you will be taken to the application form page. Fill up all the relevant information and upload the photograph and signature. These must be in jpeg format (image quality 200 dpi). The file size of the photograph should be between 10 kb to 40 kb and for the signature, the size must be between 10 kb to 30 kb.

Make sure that when filling up personal details, your name, the name of your father/mother and your date of birth is exactly the same as mentioned in the 10th class passing certificate. Any mismatch in names & date of birth in the application form with it is liable for rejection.

Double check that all the data submitted is accurate. Once you have successfully submitted the online application, you will get a unique Application/Registration number, which you should note down for future reference and for retrieval/ reprint of the e-admit card.

The e-admit card will be available at http://joinindiancoastguard.gov.in/reprint.aspx from 8th June to 24th June 2018.

Take two print outs of the e-Admit card with your recent identical photograph with blue background (the photo should be older than three months) and bring these to the admission centre. One copy must be enclosed with photocopies of all required documents, namely:
  1. The Class X certificate and mark sheet showing date of birth. Can't find your birth certificate? Learn how to apply for a duplicate birth certificate.

  2. The Class XII certificate along with mark sheet showing subjects.

  3. The Degree certificate showing percentage of marks.

  4. The caste certificate if applicable.

  5. The NCC 'C' certificate / games certificate duly attested (if applicable).

The above documents will be required to be submitted at the exam centre.

The second copy without any enclosure is to be kept with you as an identity proof during the selection procedure.

Preliminary selection exam

Shortlisted candidates, based on the applications will be called for the preliminary selection exam, to be conducted from 18th Jun 2018 onwards (tentative date) at the following centers (other centers may be listed by Coast Guard):
  1. Coast Guard Regional Headquarters (West), Worli Sea Face, PO-Worli Colony, Mumbai-400030.

  2. Coast Guard Store Depot, CG Complex near Kalmandapam Police Station, GM Pettai Road, Royapuram, Chennai-600013.

  3. Coast Guard Regional Headquarters (North East), Synthesis Business Park, 6th floor, Shrachi Building, New Town, Rajarhat, Kolkata-700161.

  4. Coast Guard Selection Board, A-1, Sector-24, Opposite HCL Technologies Ltd. District-Gautam Budha Nagar, Noida, UP- 201 301.

Important: Ensure that you reach the allotted center at least 30 minutes prior to the time of the exam start. You must bring along all the original documents along with the two copies of the computer-generated pre-filled online e-admit card form with recent color passport size photo as instructed earlier (check the list of documents from the official notification). The preliminary selection process may take place over two days, for which you will need to make your own accommodation arrangements.

This exam will comprise of Mental Ability Test/ Cognitive Aptitude Test (objective test in English) and Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PP&DT).

Final selection exam

Those who qualify through the preliminary selection will be called for Final Selection, the date, and venue of which will be uploaded on the Indian Coast Guard website. This will consist of Psychological Test, Group Task and Interview (Personality test). All documents/ certificates verified during the preliminary selection must also be produced in originals during the final selection process.

Those who are successful in the final selection test will need to undergo a medical exam at the nearest Military Hospital. Candidates for General Duty Pilot & CPL will need to undergo the medical exam at AFCME, Delhi. Candidates are advised to check the medical standards expected from the official notification.

The General Duty Pilot candidates on qualifying the final selection exam must appear for CPSS (Computerized Pilot Selection System Test) at Dehradun /Mysore AFSBs. Those already having CPSS qualification must provide details of the batch, Chest number, date, and place while filling up PIQ (Personal Information Questionnaire) forms during the final selection stage.

A merit list will be uploaded at the website during the first week of December 2018 of the medically fit candidates on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates at the final selection test & as per the availability of vacancies. Joining letters will be issued to these candidates and their training will begin at the end of December 2018.

Important dates

  1. Online application begins on 19th May 2018 from 000 1hrs.

  2. Online application closes on 1st June 2018 up to 1700hrs.

  3. E-admit card will be available online at official website from 8th June to 24th June 2018.
