Searching for the online application form and procedure for 2018-2019 FYJC Mumbai admissions? This article explains the online procedure for the Mumbai junior college admissions for the academic session starting in 2018 after Std.X exam results and provides the schedule for the various steps of the procedure.
In Maharashtra, there is a Centralized Admission Process (CAP) for the admission to the first year junior college (FYJC), which is Class XI. Alll recognized higher secondary schools/junior colleges which are affiliated to the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education must participate in the online CAP.
This year, there are additional seats available but, as per media reports, it seems these are a result of permission being given to some schools to offer higher education and to a few institutes to add divisions. The number of seats is still fixed at most reputed colleges in Mumbai, Pune and other major cities in the State. Totally there will be about 3 lakh seats. The applications submitted will be considered for the online admission procedure on the basis of the merit category and the order of preferences given.
The admission processing fee is Rs. 250/- for Mumbai and Rs.150/- for other divisions. This fee includes the charges for the information booklet and log-in ID.
Who can apply for CAPAll those who pass Std X exam (SSC) or an equivalent exam with English as one of the subjects can seek admissions to FYJC (Std. XI) to Maharashtra colleges. The marks scored in this exam and reservation (if applicable) is the sole criteria for admissions to FYJC classes. No entrance test or interviews will be conducted for the admission.
If you have opted for General Mathematics in Class 10, then you cannot seek admissions to bifocal subjects (Technical group). You also cannot opt for Mathematics in any of the streams.
For those seeking admission to the science stream, it is necessary to have passed the Class 10 exam (SSC) or an equivalent exam with science subject and minimum 35% marks.
General instructions and new changes
Those who have passed Class 10 exam from the Maharashtra State SSC board residing within the corporation online admission area and are applying through open merit category, should submit the online application for CAP from their school only. They must not fill up the online admission form at any private class, tuition centre or cyber cafe.
Those who have passed Class 10 exam from the Maharashtra State Board from outside the corporation online admission area should submit the application online through any Guidance Center which is listed in the admissions booklet.
Those passing SSC or equivalent exam who are seeking admission for Std. XI under minority, in-house or management quota (there are about over 1 lakh seats reserved for these) or under 25% reserved seats for Bifocal subject or HSVC stream must first register and submit Part 1 and Part 2 both of the centralised admission application.
You need to fill up Part 1 of application form only once for applying to one single stream out of Arts, Science, Commerce and HSVC.
In Part 2 of the online application form, you can, in each round, change the stream and preferences (options). In this process, you need to provide minimum one and can opt for maximum 10 preferences only.
As of this academic year of 2018-19, the bifocal admissions will be done in zero round. National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF)-Level-3 admissions also will be done in zero round. Details about this process will be provided at the admissions website later.
Admissions to Home Science and to Night Junior Colleges will be done by the respective junior college.
Those who select level 3 subjects of the National Skill Qualification Framework based on Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan can also apply for CAP for arts, science or commerce stream. Note, though, that you can take Level 3 vocational subject from the same school where you completed Level 2 or any junior college or Higher Secondary School where level 3 is available and taught.
For A.T.K.T. (Allowed To Keep Terms) students a special round will be conducted separately. ATKT will be applicable only to students of Maharashtra State Board and not other Boards, who have appeared in one attempt with all subjects, and failed in only two subjects in the March/July 2018 exam. Other than Maharashtra SSC board, students will not get ATKT concession.
Applicants applying for the special reservation category should check the official admissions brochure to know the list of documents/certificates required to be produced in original for verification to the head of the institute where admission is sought (table image has also been provided at the end of this article for quick reference).
Every Higher Secondary School and Junior College will have a unique code number (this is of eight characters of alpha-numerical combination) on the basis of the stream, type, set and medium of instruction & hence you will likely see more than one code number for the same college. Take care to choose your option correctly, keeping in mind the medium of instruction and the fee structure.
Those who are applying from outside the concerned district area from CBSE, ICSE, IGCSE, IB, National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) and other State Boards must obtain their original School Leaving Certificate countersigned on the overleaf side by the Education officer of their respective district. The U-DISE number (Unified District Information System for Education) of the school should be mentioned on the school leaving certificate.
Those who have passed Class 10 exam from a Board other than Maharashtra State SSC Board must submit an application for eligibility which is available with the respective higher secondary school/junior college office along with the necessary documents as described in the application.
Options in the online application process
Streams: (i) Arts; (ii) Science; (iii) Commerce and (iv) HSVC (MCVC).
Types under each Stream (on the basis of grants): (i) Aided; (ii) Unaided; (iii) Permanent Unaided; (iv) Self-financed.
Types of Junior Colleges: (i) Co-ed; (ii) Boys; (iii) Girls.
Medium of Instruction: (i) Marathi; (ii) English; (iii) Urdu and (v) Other language as per division.
How to apply
Obtain the admission information booklet from your school.
Log in with the ID and password which has been provided in the admission booklet you purchased.
The school can fill up Part 1 of the application form. You do not need to wait for the Class 10 results to fill up this part.
Take a print out of the application form and keep it for future reference.
Once the Class 10 results are declared, you can log in again and fill up Part 2 of the online application form.
Note that once Part 2 is accessible and open for submitting details, the SSC board students can see their best of five marks of SSC automatically. All other students must fill in their Class 10 marks. Repeaters, previously passed and students of other Boards must fill their marks and get approval to marks filled from school principals or guidance centres.
