The Utilities feature is indeed a thoughtful addition to the tool. It would help you create or edit boot image. You may also use it to create a bootable media so that you can boot your PC in cases of boot failures.

The app is designed really well. The fact that it has been specifically created for a novice user is evident from the simplicity that it offers you. But wait, the simplicity stops at the interface and usage functionality. The features that the tool offer are just wonderful and compete well with the established names in the data backup tools.
The AOMEI Backupper offers you four major functions - Backup, Restore, Clone and Utilities. It uses a simple 4 step process for backing your data up. That is exactly what would make it one of the excellent options you can go with.

The Features

Well, the interface may not be true to the modern times. But, we do not think of it that way in terms of functionality and workflow. Of course, there can be a couple of glitches you would come across, like long file names not being supported. You may find a few display issues for the software, but that would not undermine the usability of the tool.
One of the aspects we liked the most is the real-time sync functionality that the tool offers you. However, syncing would not mean an actual backup process. Instead, it would save your files at some other location. You can, however, schedule backup - you have a few scheduling options that you can configure.

You have access to both Linux and Windows PE images that you can work with. The images can also be burned to your CD and saved on USB drives.

The Functionality

We would consider it one of the fastest when it comes to your needs in data backup and restore of your disks and disk partitions. However, when it comes to backing up file sets, it can be quite slow. That would not undermine the capability though.
AOMEI Backupper comes with a considerably high compression rate compared to the other tools in the same genre. The compression rate observed in our test cases tends to be around 10 to 12 percent. We would consider it to be an excellent approach in its own right, just because you are expected to save space on the drive that you are saving your backed files to.

What did we like with AOMEI Backupper?

Advanced features packed inside a simple package - that is precisely what we would want to say about AOMEI Backupper. Almost all the features and settings included within the software pose a complexity to the efficient functionality. All the functions are self-explanatory and that would make it one the best for your needs in an excellent data backup options.
Option to schedule system partitions backup is yet another feature that we found interesting. You should be able to keep your Windows partition backed up without any issues. The Volume Shadow Copy id another option that would be helpful enough.

What we did not like with the software?

The display issues we mentioned can be a few issues as such. However, we would hasten to add that it does not affect the performance or functionality of the tool in any way. One of the issues we faced is a glitch that does not let your Window to be resized. This is a bug we observed while attempting to restore a backed up file. This would leave just a small area for accessing your selection of the files to be restored.
One of the issues we found was the inability to PAUSE a backup functionality. Of course, it lets you cancel the backup so that you start the backup once again, but there is no option to pause the backup process and then resume it. This would have been a practical solution and we would expect the developers to bring up the feature in a future update.

AOMEI Backupper Standard should be your ideal option for all your needs in backing up and restoring your system. The application has been designed keeping in view the requirements of a novice user and thus do not leave any option for human errors.
It is completely free and offers you all the options you would expect in a tool that is designed for those with no technical expertise. We would definitely treat it to be an excellent option for your needs in data backup and restore.
