IBPS bank recruitment exam for Officers & Office Assistants 2018 online applications


Are you looking for job vacancies for freshers and experienced people in regional rural banks in India? You can apply for the recruitment exam for Group A-Officers (Scale-I, II & III) and Group B-Office Assistant (Multipurpose) in Regional Rural Banks. The exam is being conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS). This article provides complete information about the IBPS recruitment exam format and how to apply for it to launch your banking career in India.

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has announced the notification for the online recruitment exam to be held between August and October 2018 for selection of eligible candidates to be appointed for recruitment of Group A-Officers (Scale-I, II & III) and Group B-Office Assistant (Multipurpose) in Regional Rural Banks (RRBs).

Eligible candidates must register online for the Common Recruitment Process (CRP for RRBs-VII) for these posts. There will be a preliminary exam and then the main exam for the post of Officers Scale I, while those applying for posts of Scale-II (Generalist and Specialists) and Scale III will appear for a single online exam.

List of posts

You can apply for the post of Office Assistant (Multipurpose) as well as also for the post of Officer. Note, though, that an application can be made for only one post in the officer's cadre i.e. for Officer Scale-I or Scale-II or Scale-III. Also, for each post, you need to submit a separate application & pay the fees/intimation charges separately for each post. The posts are -
  1. Officer Scale- III (Senior Manager).
  2. Officer Scale-II (Manager).
  3. Officer Scale-I (Assistant Manager).
  4. Office Assistant (Multipurpose).


Eligibility requirements

With regard to nationality, citizens of India can apply. Those who are subjects of Nepal and Bhutan are also welcome to apply. Other eligible applicants: a Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India; or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Those who are not citizens of India must produce a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.



Other eligibility requirements are as follows-

Officer Scale- III (Senior Manager)

  1. Age: You must be above 21 years and below 40 years (not have been born earlier than 3rd June 1978 and later than 31t May 1997, both dates inclusive).
  2. Educational qualification: You should have a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent.
  3. General skills: You must be proficient in a local language as prescribed by the participating RRB. It is preferable to have computer knowledge as well.
  4. Experience: not required.


Officer Scale-I (Assistant Manager)

  1. Age: You must be above 18 years and below 30 years (not have been born earlier than 3rd June 1988 and later than 31st May 2000, both dates inclusive).
  2. Educational qualification: You should have a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent. Preferred fields: Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics or Accountancy
  3. General skills: You must be proficient in a local language as prescribed by the participating RRB. It is preferable to have computer knowledge as well.
  4. Experience: not required.


Officer Scale-II General Banking Officer (Manager)

  1. Age: You must be above 21 years and below 32 years (not have been born earlier than 3rd June 1986 and later than 31st May 1997, both dates inclusive).
  2. Educational qualification: You should have a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent with at least 50% marks in aggregate. Preferred fields: Banking, Finance, Marketing, Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics and Accountancy.
  3. Experience: You should have a minimum of two years of experience an officer in a Bank or in a financial institution.


Officer Scale-II Specialist Officers (Manager)

The age criteria for all the below-mentioned posts is the same: You should be above 21 years and below 32 years (not have been born earlier than 3rd June 1986 and later than 31st May 1997 (both dates inclusive).
Other criteria as per post is as follows -
A. Information Technology Officer:
  1. Educational qualification: You should have a Bachelor's degree from a recognised University in Electronics / Communication / Computer Science / Information Technology or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
  2. General skills: A Certificate in ASP, PHP, C++, Java, VB, VC, OCP etc. is desirable.
  3. Experience: One year relevant experience.


B. Chartered Accountant:
  1. Educational qualification: Certified Associate (CA) from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
  2. Experience: At least one year of experience as a Chartered Accountant.


C. Law Officer:
  1. Educational qualification: You should have a Degree from a recognised University in Law or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
  2. Experience: You should have two years of experience as an advocate. Alternatively, you should have worked as Law Officer in a Bank or in financial institutions for at least two years.


D. Treasury Manager:
  1. Educational qualification: You should be a Chartered Accountant or have an MBA in Finance from a recognized university/ institution.
  2. Experience: At least one year of relevant experience.


E. Marketing Officer:
  1. Educational qualification: You should have an MBA in Marketing from a recognized university.
  2. Experience: At least one year of relevant experience.


F. Agricultural Officer:
  1. Educational qualification: You should have a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture/ Horticulture/ Dairy/ Animal Husbandry/ Forestry/ Veterinary Science/ Agricultural Engineering/ Pisciculture from a recognized university or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate>
  2. Experience: At least two years of relevant experience.


Officer Scale-III (Senior Manager)

  1. Age: You should be above 21 years and below 40 years (not have been born earlier than 3rd June 1978 and later than 31st May 1997, both dates inclusive).
  2. Educational qualification: You should have a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Preferred fields: Degree/ Diploma in Banking, Finance, Marketing, Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics and Accountancy.
  3. Experience: You should have at least 5 years of experience as an Officer in Banks or in financial institutions.


Note: Educational qualifications should be as on 2nd July 2018, by which date results of exam (if appearing for the same) will have been declared. For the criteria of Proficiency in local language, please refer to the official notification for details.

Fees

The Application Fees/ Intimation Charges is as follows:
Officer (Scale I, II & III): Rs. 100/- for SC/ST/PWD candidates; Rs. 600/- for all other candidates.
Office Assistant (Multipurpose): Rs. 100/- for SC/ST/PWD/EXSM candidates; Rs. 600/- for all other candidates.

Note: Fees will be accepted through online payment from 8th June to 2nd July 2018.

Online exam format

The Preliminary exam for the post of Office Assistant (Multipurpose) is 45 minutes, with a total of 80 marks. There are 2 sections, one of Reasoning (40 marks) and one of Numerical Ability (40 marks).

The Preliminary exam for the post of Officer Scale-I is 45 minutes, with a total of 80 marks. There are 2 sections, one of Reasoning (40 marks) and one of Quantitative Aptitude (40 marks).

The Main exam for the post of Office Assistant (Multipurpose) is of 2 hours, with a total of 200 marks. There are 5 sections, each of 40 marks: Reasoning, Numerical Ability, General Awareness, English Language/Hindi Language and Computer Knowledge.

The Main exam for the post of Office Assistant (Multipurpose) is of 2 hours, with a total of 200 marks. There are 5 sections, each of 40 marks: Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness, English Language/Hindi Language and Computer Knowledge.

For the single level exam, the format is as follows-
  • For the post of Officer Scale-II (General Banking Officer): The paper is of 2 hours, of 200 marks. There are 5 sections, each of 40 marks: Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude & Data Interpretation, Financial Awareness, English Language/ Hindi Language and Computer Knowledge.
  • For the post of Officer Scale-II (Specialist Cadre): The paper is of 2 hours, of 200 marks. There are 6 sections: Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude & Data Interpretation, Financial Awareness, English Language/ Hindi Language, Computer Knowledge and Professional Knowledge. The language section is of 20 marks, while the others are of 40 marks each.
  • For the post of Officer Scale-III: Same as for the post of Officer Scale-II (General Banking Officer).


Note: For the language paper, you can opt for English or Hindi. The medium for all papers will be both English and Hindi (other than Hindi language paper). There is a penalty for all the exams - 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted.



At the exam center

Ensure that you reach the exam centre well in advance, as verification of documents will be done before the actual online exam begins. You need to produce the following documents at the exam center for both, the preliminary exam and the main exam:
  1. The valid Call Letter for the respective date and session of exam .
  2. Photocopy of Photo-identity proof (PAN Card/ Passport/ Driving License/ Voter's Card/ Bank Passbook) in original bearing the same name as it appears on the call letter/ application form with with a photograph/ Photo identity proof issued by a Gazetted Officer/ People's Representative along with a photograph / Identity Card issued by a recognized college/ university/ Aadhar card with a photograph/ Employee ID .

Note: A Ration Card will not be accepted as valid ID proof.

You will also be required to submit Biometric data. This will be taken on the day of the online Main exam before the exam begins and after the exam ends. It will also be captured at the time of document verification before the interview and at the time of joining if provisionally allotted. Biometric data capturing is mandatory for all candidates. To ensure quicker capturing, ensure that the fingers are totally dry and not dirty and that there are no marks on them (such as tattoos, stamped ink, etc).

Note: Providing your Aadhar number or Aadhar enrolment number in the application is optional.

How to apply

Submit your application online only from 8th June to 2nd July 2018 at the official website: http://www.ibps.in/ after first registering via the link of 'New Registration'.

Before applying, ensure that you keep ready all the requisite documents, along with the following:
(i) a scanned photo (4.5cm × 3.5cm);
(ii) signature (this should not be in capital letters);
(iii) left thumb impression (this should not be smudged & you can give a right thumb impression in case of the left thumb is not available) and
(iv) a handwritten declaration in English (in the prescribed format given in the official notification).

You must also have a valid personal email ID.

On successful completion of the online application, take a printout of the e-receipt and online application form. Do not send these to IBPS or to any Bank. You need to retain them along with your registration number and password for future reference.
