Online applications open for University of Mumbai Assistant Professors recruitment 2018


Are you searching for career opportunities as an Assistant Professor in the University of Mumbai? This article provides details of an opportunity to be appointed as an Assistant Professor at a college affiliated to the University or at a sub-centre of in a Department of the University.

The University of Mumbai has issued a recruitment notification to invite applications from qualified candidates for the posts of Assistant Professor. The selected candidates will be appointed on a temporary basis for a period of 11 months. The appointment is for teaching in a Model/Conducted College/Institute/Sub Centre and the University Departments. Applications will be accepted online only and walk-in interview for all the disciplines will be conducted on later, details of which will be updated on the official website of the University of Mumbai.

Additionally, a few teaching posts are open at Ratnagiri, Ambadawe and Talere in Konkan region, Maharashtra for the subjects of BMS, B.Sc., ( IT) and Zoology. So you can select the option specifically for such posts when applying.

Eligibility requirements

For the posts 1 to 36 above, you should fulfil the following eligibility criteria:
  1. Academic qualifications: You must have a good academic record with minimum 55% marks ( or an equivalent grade in a point scale where a grading system is applied) at the Master's Degree level in the relevant subject or have an equivalent degree from an Indian / Foreign University.

  2. Professional qualification: You should have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) which is conducted by the UGC, CSIR, or any other similar test which is accredited by the UGC. If you have been awarded Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the UGC Regulations 2009, then you are exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for the recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or an equivalent position in Universities / Colleges. Further, NET/SLET/SET is not a required qualification for such Masters Programs in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted.

For the post of Assistant Professor Architecture (no.37 in the list above), you should fulfil the following eligibility criteria:
  1. Academic qualifications: You must have a first class Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or have a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture as well as a First Class Master's Degree in Architecture.

  2. Work experience: You should preferably have one year of teaching experience as a Visiting Teacher. This experience should exclude the time period for acquisition of PG/Ph.D. qualifications.

    In case you are in practice, It is desirable to have one year of teaching experience as a Visiting teacher
