Indian Navy University Entry Scheme course admissions 2019 for engineering students

The Indian Navy invites eligible unmarried final year engineering students who are Indian nationals to join as Permanent Commission (PC) Officers under the University Entry Scheme (UES). The course will start in June 2019. The application can be made for grant of PC in Executive (GS) as well as for Short Service Commission (SSC) in the Executive and Technical Branches of the Indian Navy.

Note that if you have already completed your B.E./B.Tech. Degree course, then you cannot apply for this scheme. You should submit only one application. In case you are eligible for more than one branch/cadres/specialization, then you should mention your preference in order of priority in the application form and you will be shortlisted for the SSB on your first preference. If not shortlisted for your first preference, then you will be considered for another branch/cadre/specialization as per the availability. Further, those having a B.E./B.Tech. degree in Avionics will be eligible only for the Air Technical branch.

1. General Service (X): This branch is open only for male candidates only & for PC/SSC. Disciplines: Any stream of B.E./B.Tech.


2. IT: This branch is open only for male candidates only & only for SSC. Disciplines: (i) Information Technology; (ii) Computer Science Engineering; (iii) Computer Engineering.

Educational Disciplines qualification for Technical Branch

1. Engineering Branch: This branch is open for male candidates only & only for SSC. Disciplines: (i) Mechanical; (ii) Marine; (iii) Automobiles; (iv) Mechatronics; (v) Instrumentation; (vi) Production; (vii) Metallurgy; (viii) Aeronautical; (ix) Aero Space; (x) Industrial Engineering & Management; (xi) Control Engineering; (xii) Instrumentation & control.


2. Electrical Branch: This branch is open for male candidates only & only for SSC. Disciplines: (i)Electrical; (ii) Electronics; (iii) Tele Communications; (iv) Electronics and Instrumentation; (v) Electronics and Communication; (vi) Power Engineering; (vii) Control System Engineering; (viii) Power Electronics; (ix) Instrumentation and Control; (x) Avionics


3. Naval Architecture (NA): This branch is open for both male and female candidates & for SSC only. Disciplines: (i) Mechanical; (ii) Civil; (iii) Aeronautical; (iv) Aero Space; (v) Metallurgy; (vi) Naval Architecture; (vii) Ocean Engineering; (viii) Marine Engineering; (ix) Ship Technology: (x) Ship Building: (xii) Ship Design.

Medical standards

1. Height: 157cms. For all branches/cadre (refer to official notification for relaxation of height for candidates from certain regions).


2. Weight: Co-related weight as per height and age.


3. Eyesight: (i) 6/12, 6/12 for Executive (General Service) and correctable with glasses 6/6 for both eyes; (ii) 6/24, 6/24 for Electrical / Engineering branch and correctable with glasses 6/6 for both eyes; (iii) 6/60, 6/60 for IT branch and correctable with glasses 6/6 for both eyes; (iv) 6/60, 6/60 for Naval Architecture and correctable with glasses 6/6, 6/12.

• Promotions on a time scale basis, from Sub-Lieutenant to Commander, this being subject to completion of mandatory courses, sea time and medical conditions.

How to apply

1. Check complete details of eligibility requirements, including medical standards, at the official website. Register and apply at the Indian Navy site


2. Submit application in online mode only from 30th June 2018 to 30th July 2018.


3. Ensure that you have all the requisite documents read when filling up the online application (e-application) form along with a scanned recent photo. Obtain the signature of the Principal/Dean/HoD on the declaration given at the end of the application.


4. Email address & mobile phone number are mandatory


5. Ensure that you double check all the details before you click on the Submit button because you will not able to make any corrections after the details have been saved.


6. Once you submit the form, the system will generate an Application Number. In case this number is not generated, it means that your application has been rejected by the system.


7. Take two printouts of the application form having the system-generated Application Number. One copy of this form will need to be submitted to the Campus Selection Interview. Another copy is required for the SSB along with proof of date of birth (10th and 12th certificate), copies of Class 10 mark sheet, Class 12 mark sheets and mark sheets till the 5th / 7th semester as applicable.

Selection Procedure

1. If you are eligible for the entry under the UES scheme, then you will have to appear for a Naval Campus Selection procedure. If qualifying through the campus interview, you will be shortlisted for SSB interview on the basis of your preference for the entry, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria of that entry. Final selection of branch/cadre will be decided by IHQ-MoD (Navy).


2. If you are shortlisted during the campus interview, you will be called for SSB interview at Bangalore/Bhopal/Coimbatore/Visakhapatnam/Kolkata between December 2018 to April 2019. The SSB interview (5 days duration) consists of 2 stages of tests. The first stage of one day includes: Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Test, Picture Perception and Discussion test (PPDT). The second stage of four days includes: Psychological testing, Group Task, Group Discussion, Personal Interview.


3. If you are successful in the SSB interview, you will then undergo a Special Medical Exam (5 days duration) at the nearest Military Hospital.
