How to apply for UGC NET 2018 Exam

About UGC NET 2018

University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) 2018 is conducted for selection of candidates for Assistant Professor position only or for both Junior Research Fellowship JRF, Assistant Professor positions in colleges and universities in December 2018. Previously, this test was conducted In offline mode but from 2018, UGC NET will be conducted in online mode. UGC NET 2019 is conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency). NTA is an autonomous, premier, self sustained testing organization which works under the department of Higher Education, Ministry of HRD, Government of India. Based on candidate's performance in UGC NET 2018 examination, candidates will be awarded eligibility for Assistant Professors position only or both JRF and eligibility for Assistant Professor.



UGC NET 2018 Exam Pattern

UGC NET 2018 will be conducted in online mode in two sessions. One session is for paper I and second session is for paper II. In paper I their will be 50 objective type questions will be related to following subjects: General nature and research/ teaching aptitude of the candidate. In Paper II their will be 100 objective type questions will be on the subject selected by the candidate. Each question carries 2 marks. Session I will be conducted for 1 hour and Session II will be conducted for 2 hours.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for UGC NET 2018 have to satisfy below mentioned eligibility criteria:

  • Candidates must have secured minimum 55% marks (50% for OBC belonging to Non Creamy layer/ ST/ SC/ PwD/ Transgender candidates) in Masters Degree or equivalent exam from the UGC recognized institute or university.
  • Candidates who are awaiting for the result of final exam of Master degree can also apply. These candidates must complete master degree with in 2 years of UGC NET 2018 result declaration.
  • Ph.D candidates whose masters degree competed by 19th September 1991 are eligible for 5% in aggregate marks.
  • It the subject is not available in the list, candidates have to appear for NET exam for the subject in which they have done their graduation and then select the paper similar to it.

Application Procedure

Interested and eligible candidates can apply online at website: "https://ntanet.nic.in/ntanet/root/loginpage.aspx". Start date of online application for UGC NET 2019 is 1st September 2018. Candidates need to pay the application fee in online itself. Last date to submit online application is 30th September 2018. Admit card will be available to download in the official website form 19th November 2018.
