Earlier law programmes were provided only in regular mode but now opportunities are available to study law through distance learning. Those who wish to use legal knowledge in any field or in the carrier associated with their field of study can hold a degree through the distance education programmes offered by the TNDALU. As a part of the distance education programmes, the law university of Tamil Nadu offers Post Graduate courses and Post Graduate Diploma courses in law. The distance education programmes proposed in the University covers a wide range of concepts in law. In addition to the conventional subjects in law, the TNDALU has taken steps to provide education to the students on the subjects which contain the concepts related to the development of the nation.

TNDALU offers various distance education courses in law. It admits the students into the distance education programmes during every academic year. The University conducts Personal Contact Programme (PCP) classes to the distance education students on Saturday and Sunday. A notification on the schedule of PCP classes will be sent to the distance education students in prior. TNDALU usually conducts PCP classes at The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Near Taramani MRTS Railway Station, M.G.R Salai, Perungudi, Chennai - 113.

Post Graduate course: Master of Corporate Laws ( M.C.L)

Master of Corporate Laws (M.C.L) is the first postgraduate degree in law which is being offered through distance education. This degree programme concentrates on various law concepts and provides law education through subjects such as basic principles of law, e-commerce and cybersecurity, the law of contracts, international trade law, company law, regulatory laws, corporate finance, industrial intellectual property law, alternative dispute resolution, the law of economic enterprises and competition law.

Duration: 2 years( Academic year)

Eligibility criteria: To join the postgraduate degree programme under distance education, candidates must have obtained a degree from a recognized university along with the educational qualification of 10+2.

Mode of selection:
Candidates who wish to apply for M.C.L degree course should submit the application form along with the required testimonials listed in the application form. The selection process for M.C.L is purely based on the marks obtained by the candidates in the qualifying examination. The law universities usually admit students into the regular law programmes based on the marks secured by the candidates in Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) . But TNDALU does not conduct any written entrance examination for admissions into the PG degree programme offered under distance education.

Post Graduate Diploma courses in Law

TNDALU offers nearly 12 PG Diploma courses in law under distance education mode. All the PG diploma programmes provide a good knowledge to the students on the concepts of law in particular specialization. As a part of this degree programme, the students must complete a project work on a topic of law for around 50 pages. The project work must be neatly typewritten and spiraled.

Duration: 1 year (Academic year)

Eligibility criteria:
To obtain a postgraduate diploma degree under distance education, candidates must have obtained a degree from a recognized university. Only candidates with a graduate degree are eligible to join the PG diploma degree programmes offered under distance education mode in TNDALU.

Mode of selection:
Candidates who wish to apply for PG diploma degree programmes should submit the application form along with the required testimonials mentioned in the application form. The selection process for PG diploma degree programmes is purely based on the marks obtained by the candidates in the qualifying examination. TNDALU does not conduct any written entrance examination for the admissions into all the PG diploma degree programmes offered under distance education.

Certificate course in Documentation

TNDALU offers a Certificate course in Documentation under distance education mode. Through the certificate course in Documentation, the law education is given to the students on the subjects such as the general principles of property law and succession, registration act, the stamp act and related laws. To train the students in the art of drafting the deeds and other instruments, practical education is given on the drafting of conveyances.

Duration: 6 months

Eligibility criteria:
Candidates who have completed the Higher Secondary Examinations (10+2) or any equivalent examinations conducted by the Tamil Nadu state board or any other recognized educational board are eligible to apply for the certificate course in Documentation.

Even candidates who hold a graduate degree can also join the certificate course in documentation offered by TNDALU under distance education.

Mode of selection:
Candidates who wish to apply for a certificate course in documentation should submit the application form along with the required testimonials mentioned in the application form. The selection process for the course is purely based on the marks obtained by the candidates in the qualifying examination and other necessary data as mentioned in the application form.

How to apply

The application process for admission into the distance education programmes offered by TNDALU is available through both online ( www.tndalu.ac.in) and offline.

Candidates can obtain the application form in person from the University office or by post. To obtain the application form via post, candidates must send a requisite fee along with requisition letter mentioning the course they are willing to apply to the Chairman, The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University.
