I started reading this article with tremendous interest, but I felt disheartened after completing the article. The author has not mentioned the best educational institutions of the state and instead named some of the little-known private engineering colleges. I am naming only some of the best educational institutions of the state for the readers.

1. University of Calcutta- One of three oldest universities of the country. It is still one of the best universities in the country. Many great personalities are associated with this very prestigious university.

2. Presidency University (earlier Presidency College)- The great and grand university doesn't need any introduction.

3. Calcutta Medical College- The oldest medical college and university is still considered the best in the eastern part of the country.

4. IIEST Shibpur (earlier Shibpur Bengal Engineering College)- This is the second oldest engineering college and the oldest full-fledged engineering college in the country. It has still maintained its goodwill. It was established in 1856.

5. Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata- This is the best ISI of the country established by legendary P.C. Mahalanobis. It is the top institute for studying Statistics and Computer Science.

6. Indian Institute of Management, Joka (Kolkata)- One of the best IIMs of the country. This prestigious educational institution is located at the outskirt of Kolkata.

7. Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Mohanpur, Nadia- One of the top agricultural universities of India. It still maintains its very high standard.

8. Barddhaman University- It caters to the needs of a vast number of students of the central part of West Bengal. Established in 1961, the standard of the university is very high.

9. North Bengal University- North Bengal University (established in 1962) is another good university located at Siliguri of North Bengal.

10. Indian Maritime University, Taratola, Kolkata is a very prestigious marine engineering college. It was established in 1949. It is known for its very high standard of education in marine engineering.

These are very few prestigious educational institutes of Kolkata, which must have been mentioned in this article. There are many such institutes in the state. Without mentioning these, the author has mentioned some little-known private engineering colleges of the state.

Frankly speaking, I am not very happy with this article.

The author has mentioned a select few reputed institutions in West Bengal though there are many other good ones there.

The criterion for these institutions to be ranked as the top is not understood. Anyway, the information given is useful for understanding the courses available in these particular institutions.
