Correspondence courses offered by Osmania University, Hyderabad


Osmania university is one of the oldest and prestigious institutes in India. The institute not only offers UG, PG and diploma courses on correspondence but also it has skill based certificate courses. Osmania University was founded in 1918 by Nawab Osman Ali Khan, the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad. Prof. G. Ram Reddy Centre for Distance education of Osmania University was established in 1977 to cater to need of students pursuing distance learning courses. The university offers many UG, PG and diploma programs for correspondence. Since these correspondence courses have no age restrictions and anyone who has their intermediate completed can apply for P.G courses. The university does not accept foreign addresses for distance learning application, so the foreign candidates are required to stay in Hyderabad during examination. Admissions for some courses have already started in August, 2018.

UG courses in correspondence

  1. B.A languages: The course lasts for 3 years. Anyone who has passed intermediate is eligible to apply for the B.A and B.Com courses. B.A languages graduates can either pursue M.A (Telugu/English/Hindi/Sanskrit/Urdu) or go for a job. The prospects for B.A languages graduates include: being book critics, language teachers, authors, representatives of a state or a country etc..;

  2. B.A in Mathematics and B.A in Statistics are three year programs. They are fairly common degrees with which you could pursue: accounting, marketing, exports and imports, banks etc..;

  3. B.Com is another three year long course offered by the university in correspondence. With this degree you can pursue banking, accounting, marketing, teaching etc..;

  4. B.B.A is one of the most sought after degree in recent years. This three year course readies the students for their future in banking and business administration. There is a great scope in finance, marketing and management of business. Many graduates pursue M.B.A after graduating from B.B.A to strengthen their opportunities.

  5. Most students with above mentioned degrees try for government sector jobs after graduation.

    PG degrees offered by the institute in correspondence

    1. M.B.A is the two year degree course that almost every Indian is now wishing to attain. Eligibility criteria would be qualifying I-CET. There are reasons why M.B.A degree from a reputed institution such as O.U is sought after a lot. It is easier to get a managerial position in no matter what field you are in if you have the M.B.A degree. The fees structure would be 7,500 Rs per month.

    2. M.C.A is a three year degree program. The eligibility criteria would be passing I-CET or passing the entrance exam fixed by the university. 12,000 Rs is the fee for each year. Since M.C.A is a technical course, graduates can apply for jobs concerning software development, troubleshooting, hardware engineering etc.

    3. M.Com is a fairly common post graduation degree opted by B.Com graduates. The course deals with management and marketing. The fees for this two year course would be around 4,500 Rs each year. Post graduates of this course can take up jobs like banking, accounting, exports and imports etc..;

    4. M.A in (English/Hindi/Telugu/Sanskrit/Urdu). This course can be useful for teaching these languages or being a literary critic. The course costs around 4,500 Rs per year.

    5. M.A in psychology is an interesting course offered by the university for about 7000 Rs each year fees. The course is opted by students who want to do social work.

    6. M.A in Sociology, History, Economics and Political sciences. These courses cost around 4,500 each year.

    7. M.A in Vedic astrology is another interesting program that the university offers. The course costs around 4,000 Rs a year.

    8. M.Sc in Mathematics and M.Sc in Statistics are two year programs offered by university for around 4,500 Rs of fee each year. The graduates of this course do research oriented works. Accounting and finance related jobs too can be availed with this degree

    P.G in diploma for computer applications, business management, English and Maths are also offered under distance education program.
