Mrugavani National Park Located in the outskirts of Hyderabad and near to the famous Chilkur Balaji Temple in Moinabad, Mrugavani National Park is one great place to go for an outing on weekends and holidays. One can visit the place with family or friends. Spread over a land area of around 850 acres, the place is home to lush green surroundings and a host of animals, primarily among them being the deer. Perhaps because of this reason, the park has been named Mrugavani National Park. It was in the year 1994 that the Government of India recognized this place as a wildlife sanctuary.
Other than the deer, one may also get to see a wide array of wild animals. Some among them are wild boars, foxes, civets, hares and Russell vipers. The place is also home to a number of bird species, such as the peacocks, warblers, flowerpeckers and scores more. As such it is a perfect place for the bird watchers too. Other than the animals that roam freely inside the sanctuary, there are also enclosures where a good number of deer are kept. There was one Barasingha among them. There was one enclosure for the mouse deer, the smallest deer species in the world. However, we didn't get to see any. Other than watching the birds and animals, one can spend the day with family or friends simply lazing under the cool shade of the numerous trees that dot the park. We saw many groups of people sitting on the green grass and having a picnic with food brought from home or elsewhere. For the children too it was a place of their liking as they got ample space to roam around and play in the green surroundings. The kids who came with us took us to play badminton.
Facilities availableThe facilities available at this place are drinking water, washrooms, and a single store that sells snacks like biscuits, chips and chocolates. There is an elevated viewpoint from where you will get a panoramic view of Hyderabad. There is also provision for a safari ride inside the park. Just hop into the safari bus and get to view the rich flora and fauna of the place. Those who may like to do some cooking at this place will be disheartened, as cooking food inside the park premises is strictly a no-no. You may bring food inside though.
Timings and ticket pricing The park is open on all days except for Monday from morning 9 a.m. to evening 5 p.m. Tickets are very cheaply priced. They are as follows
You don't have to pay any fees for parking. There is a good enough space for 4-wheeler parking.
How to reach Located at a distance of 25 km from BHEL Township in RCPuram Hyderabad, the place where we live, the park was easily reached by car, without encountering much traffic. Located on the outskirts, the place can be well reached by private vehicles or cabs. There are occasional bus services too.
After spending a couple of hours or so in Mrugavani National Park, we headed towards the Botanical Garden of Hyderabad. The Botanical Gardens is located close to Gachibowli, the area that is famous for its proximity to the IT corridor of Hyderabad. Before heading straight to the gardens, we first parked ourselves at the Paradise Hotel in Gachibowli. Availed the facility of valet parking there and had a sumptuous meal of Hyderabadi Biryani, the most popular meal in the whole of Hyderabad and this side of the Deccan.
Botanical Gardens Open on all days of the week from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., the Sri Kotla Vijaybhaskar Reddy Botanical Garden is located in the Madhapur area of Hyderabad. Facilities There are facilities like drinking water, washrooms, toilet and a good number of food courts. The place is also a good spot for regular morning and evening walkers. There is a walking track inside the premises and there is a provision for making monthly or yearly passes for entry to the gardens for a walk. There are also a few cottages for people to stay here inside the botanical garden. There is ample space for parking, be it car or two-wheelers.

How to reach Can be well reached by private vehicles or public transport.
Located close to Gachibowli, a prime location in the Hi-tech city, the Botanical Gardens can be very easily reached from any destination. One may make use of public transport like buses, hire a cab or reach by own conveyance. From our place at BHEL Township, the place is 10 km away and well connected by the Gachibowli highway.
As you can see, overall it was a perfect day for us, visiting two popular spots in Hyderabad. The drive to the national park and back to Gachibowli was an excellent one as we have got to travel on the Outer Ring Road for a large part of our journey. Both the places, especially the Botanical Gardens are worth visiting twice or even more. We are looking forward to our next visit to one of these places again.

A well-illustrated article about one day picnic to these two places in Hyderabad.
Such picnic places are always a matter of pride for a city as they not only attract the visitors but also generate revenue and job opportunity for the local persons.
The civic administration should give emphasis on the maintenance and upkeep of these places to attract more and more people. Keeping such places clean with proper garbage management and garbage disposal is required to enhance the ambiance.
