Applications invited for MBA 2019 course at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology invites applications from candidates who are interested in the full-time MBA program conducted by the Department of Management Studies. There will be 3 trimesters in each year of this 2 year MBA course. During this 2 year course, all students are requested to attend a compulsory summer training that will be held from 8-10 weeks. Let us check the other details of this course.


Candidates having a minimum of 50% marks in class 10 OR 50% marks in class 12 or 50% marks in bachelor degree recognized by the AICTE/UGC/Institute/University are eligible for this program. But in addition, they must have a valid score of Common Admission Test (CAT-2018) by IIMs/ Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT-2019)/CMAT-2019 (by AICTE)/ GMAT 2018/2019. For class 10, class 12 and bachelor degree, the SC/ST/PH candidates require only 45% marks. If you are a company sponsored candidate, you must check the official website of this institute in order to know the eligibility.

Are final year students eligible to apply for this course?

Yes, they are eligible provided they must produce a certificate from the authority of the University/ Institution certifying that they have obtained 50% marks or equivalent based on latest available grades/marks (except the final year grade/marks), and have completed all the requirements and has appeared for the examinations/practicals for the final year and that the result is awaited for obtaining the bachelor's degree/ equivalent qualification. So if such candidates are selected, they need to submit the final year mark sheet and certificate on 1 July 2019.

Selection process

Candidates will be selected on the following pattern like CAT/XAT/CMAT/GMAT- Score(50), Academic performance-Score(20) and work experience-Score(5). Here the maximum score will be 75. From this, the shortlisted candidates will be invited for a Written Ability Test (WAT)- Score(10) and Personal Interview (PI)-Score(15). Here the maximum score will be 25. So all together the score will be 100. There will be a separate list prepared for the candidates belonging to the General Category, Scheduled Caste Category, Scheduled Tribes Category, OBC Category and Physically Handicapped Category.

How to submit the application form?

Interested candidates are requested to fill the application form given in the above link. The applicants are required to save a copy of application form(pdf file) and take a print out of duly filled and signed Application form, along with the copy of payment (NEFT transaction) receipt/Demand Draft and all other necessary documents and must be sent by speed post/registered post/courier to the MBA Admission office by 22 March 2019.

Documents to be submitted along with the application form

Here are the list of documents that need to be submitted along with the application form.
  • Remember to affix a passport size photograph with the application form.
  • Photocopies of passing certificates and mark-sheets of Class 10th and 12th.
  • Photocopy of bachelor's degree/provisional degree and mark-sheets of all trimesters/semesters/years.
  • Self attested photocopy of CAT/XAT/CMAT/GMAT Admit Card and score card
  • Demand Draft/Online Payment Receipt.
  • Self attested photocopy of work experience certificate
  • For OBC/SC/ST candidates, a valid caste certificate/non-creamy layer certificate and a self-declaration.
  • Self attested Photocopy of valid certificate for physically handicapped category
  • For grade sheets/CGPA/CPI, applicants are requested to send a copy of grade to percentage conversion certificate if that is issued by the Board/Council/Institute/University.

Is there any hostel facility?

Yes, this is a fully residential program and all students are required to stay in the hostel on the campus for the entire duration of the course.
