Enjoy the golden beach of Tajpur

Have you heard about Tajpur? It is a new tourist spot very near to Digha. But many tourists feel that the golden beach and Casuarina trees are more pleasant and serene that other sea beaches of West Bengal. Know about this beautiful tourist spot.

Digha is the most popular tourist spot of East Medinipur District of West Bengal. This beautiful tourist spot was developed around fifty years ago, and since then its popularity has been increasing. It is known as 'Brighton of the East'. But of late, Digha has become very congested. So, tourists in search of peace and solitude are not preferring Digha anymore.

For such tourists, some other tourist spots are being developed. Shankarpur, Mandarmani, Gangani and Tajpur are some of the tourist spots which are becoming popular, but till now, these places are less frequented. Earlier, we have been acquainted with Gangani. In this article, we will discuss the enchanting beauty of the golden beach of Tajpur.

The golden beach of Tajpur

The main attraction of Tajpur is its golden beach. It is called virgin beach because a lesser number of tourists frequent this beach. The dense tamarisk trees in the inverted crescent beach increase the beauty much more. The sunrise and the sunset in this quiet golden beach create a sense of serenity in the mind of tourists who want to spend some time away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. The red crabs in the beach give a red-carpet welcome to the tourists. The beach, sunrise and sunset and the tamarisk trees create a visual beauty which is hard to describe. There is facility for paragliding during the peak season and on weekends.

You can visit the fishermen's village

The road which goes from Tajpur to Shankar is excellent. The road is along with the sea. On the other side of the road, there is a fishermen's village named Chandpur. The tourists can visit the peaceful, quiet and clean village and understand the socio-economic condition of the village. The fish-loving tourists can also purchase different types of fish from the fishermen at much cheaper rates. During the season of Hilsha fish, many tourists purchase Hilsha fish from this village at the time of returning to their home. Near this village, a Marine Drive is being developed. Many tourists also enjoy the fresh air coming from the Bay of Bengal sitting here. However, this particular spot is not suitable for swimming in the sea.

Other places to visit

If the tourists visit Tajpur for more than two days, they can also visit Digha, Shankarpur, the Fish-port at Shankarpur and Mandarmani. But I personally feel that the beach at Tajpur is the best among all these sea-beaches.

How to visit Tajpur

The distance of Tajpur is only around 175 Kilometer from Kolkata. It is at a distance of 17 Kilometer from Digha. It normally takes less than 4 hours to reach Tajpur from Kolkata by car via Kona Expressway, Kolaghat, Nandakumar and Balisai. At Kolaghat and Mecheda, the tourists can avail decent toilet facilities and warm food. The tourists can also go to Digha by train and from Digha, they can go to Tajpur by jeep or rented car.

Where to stay at Tajpur

Although Tajpur has not been very popular like Digha or Mandarmani, there are some fairly good and pocket-friendly hotels in this place. But till now, there is no State Government run guest house at Tajpur (unlike Digha or Mandarmani). The non-vegetarian tourists can enjoy different types of fish and crab.

Final few words

As Tajpur is very near to Kolkata, tourists can very well enjoy the weekend in this serene and beautiful place. However, it is pertinent to mention that during high tide, sea-bathing is risky at Tajpur.
