World-Class Education

The first and foremost thing that parents look for in a school is the quality of education. In boarding schools, the faculty members are highly qualified and experienced. For them, teaching is not just a profession but a passion that they cherish. This is the reason why they focus on imparting excellent education to every child in the classroom.

Moreover, many faculty members reside in the school, giving students the opportunity to seek help in studies at any given time.

Learning Independence and Self-Reliance

A boarding school is no less than a thrilling adventure for children. They are exposed to plenty of activities and programs that require a lot of attention and time. Moreover, to excel at these, children must believe in their capabilities and take decisions independently.

From taking care of their belongings to managing the timetable, your child will have to handle everything by themselves. It will strengthen their personality, and they won't need to rely on others. And there's no doubt that independence is one of the greatest gifts parents can bestow on their children.

Building Strong Sense of Community

In a boarding school, children have to live among other peers who end up being their friends for life. As an adult, you must have understood the importance of friends you can dote on.

Boarding school is a great opportunity where your child can interact with kids from diverse backgrounds, regions and cultures. It helps them in building a strong sense of unity and also teaches them teamwork. In addition, children also learn how to solve conflicts among classmates, improving their interpersonal skills.

Growth Beyond Academics

Academic excellence is not the only thing that helps children ace life. They need to pursue interests beyond the four walls of the classroom. This is where boarding schools outshine regular schools. Renowned boarding schools focus on various extra-curricular activities ranging from art and literature to music and sports.

Some top residential schools like Genesis Global School encourage their students by helping them to participate in national and international level competitions. Recently, a student from this school also won a Gold Medal in Triathlon at the Delhi Olympic Games 2018. Such participation boosts the morale and confidence of children.

The Bottomline

"Prepare the child for the path, not the path for the child." It is something new-age parents need to understand. Instead of keeping your child in the cocoon of care, let them enter the real world and build a strong character.

No doubt, sending your little ones away from home tugs at the heartstring. It is a difficult thought altogether but considering the way a boarding school nurtures a child's personality; the pain is worth it.

Boarding school is always a good choice for the kids. As television, mobile phones etc are limited here so there are fewer chances of kids to get distracted and they can concentrate more on the studies. Also, the person becomes more responsible as unlike day scholars they have to do all their work on their own.

Today the children are getting so much luxury and comfort in the house that they are practically getting spoilt. Sending them to boarding school is a wise solution as they would be deprived of the parent's caring umbrella there and so become independent in their routine activities.

This change in the habit of the child has some inherent downsides also. When a child goes to the boarding school he is away from the parents and there are some situations where he can pick up certain bad traits due to the absence of parental monitoring. The age of a child is tender and once he catches some bad traits or vices they remain with him lifelong. This is one aspect which parents should consider and understand and should not send the children to any boarding school but try to admit them in the reputed ones only.

Another thing is that some children slowly detach from their parents due to long durations spent in the boarding school and it soon reflects in their behavior towards the parents. Though a parent may try to bring the earlier affection and attachment back, the child might not reciprocate appropriately.

Sending the children to boarding school is a prudent thing as that will give them opportunity and situation to live on their own without the umbrella of their parents.

This decision can be taken at any time but I want to point out one thing which is of crucial nature. Sometimes the child is pampered and he will create problems when you leave him at the boarding house. So the best strategy in this matter is to bring up the child in house in a middle class environment rather than a luxurious one. This may require the parents to control themselves first but it is a necessity if you want to avoid the embarrassment later.

Children should be taught the value of money and they should know the difference between the need and luxury then only they will have a convenient life in the boarding house environment.

The boarding schools should modify their environment so that the students are keen to be accommodated. It is an excellent place to mould children and make them independent. But the boarding schools should follow some holistic practices to allow the children to grow at their own pace. They can focus upon inculcating the trait of self-reliance and yet should provide a nourishing environment. They can expose them to different dimensions of life so that they learn to accept challenges and become willing to play the game of life. Some disciplinary rules should be inculcated, but yet the teachers should be sensitive to their needs.
