Wrap up

It is good to see that Bharat Ratna is being conferred after a gap of four years but due recognition has been given to those who served for the country. Unfortunately, today the environment has changed and some section of people are always there to find a mole out of a mountain. Let us respect those personalities who have served for the nation and it is not fair to attribute some thing for awarding them with such higher civilian awards of the country. Decades of hard work made them to reach such heights in life and let us not belittle them with some silly comments. People from different walks of life were recognised and bestowed with 'Padma' awards. Let us wish them all success and may the souls of those who received these awards posthumously may rest in peace.

The highest civilian awards in our country are given to the outstanding contributors in different facades of social, educational and artistic achievements and they motivate others also to follow the footprints of these achievers.

The people who without any personal interest and selfish motives work for society and country are generally picked for these coveted awards and affirm these personalities to conform to certain benchmarks of performance and integrity.

India is a big country and we might have many good candidates for these awards but it is not possible to award all the people at a time and only a select few are honored. So, people should not take it in that way and make an issue out of it. We must respect these awardees for their contributions and inspire our new generation to follow the path shown by them to all of us. That will be the best way to appreciate these achievements.

This is a timely article giving the names of Bharat Ratna and Padma award recipients announced on the eve of the Republic Day. So far as the Bharat Ratna awards are concerned, controversies have already started regarding the so-called 'timing' of the announcement. Without going into the controversies, I must say that all the recipients of Bharat Ratna award are very well-known and deserving.

I am very (happily) astonished that Mahashay Dharampal Gulati and S. Nambi Narayan have received the Padma Bhushan award.

I don't want to comment on the politicians who have received these awards.

While concluding I would request the author and the concerned the Editor to note that the name of Padma Bhushan recipient Ashok Laxmanrao Kukade has been indicated twice.
