Three Days revised SSB Program details

The new three days SSB process would have some changes in its selection process. All the details about the new process are given in this article. Also, you'll find some information about the ongoing five days process. Hope this is helpful to you.

Service Selection Process

Service Selection Board, which is also called SSB, is one of the toughest selection processes of our country. This is meant for selecting trainees to get commissioned into the Indian Armed Forces. Thus, this process is made quite tough for the candidates. When it comes to national security, there can not be any compromise in the quality of service. This is the reason why only very few are chosen among lakhs of people who appear for this board.

The Selection process is divided into various parts. The first day is mainly focused on filtering the good bunch of the mob. This step is called the screening round. Around 30% of the total strength is selected. The others are sent back on the first day itself. Thereafter, the selected ones have to stay for 4 more days to complete all the steps. The various selection procedures include a psychological, physical and personal interview. On the last day, about 10% of this number, clears the conference round. Once they are checked with the basic qualities to become a defence officer, they have to undergo medical tests which would happen in a defence hospital.

SSB had been following the five days selection process since 1948. The selection process is one of the toughest election boards of India. It is ensured that there is no compromise in the quality of the candidates who are selected. However, there is a huge deficiency of officers in our armed forces. Thus, there was a requirement of any other selection process which could select more candidates without compromising the quality.

De novo selection system for three days SSB

According to an article published in Indian Express on May 2016, there was a proposal presented by DRDO's Defence Institute of Psychological Research(DIPR) to shortenn the Service Selection Board (SSB) process from 5 days to 3days. This new selection process was named as De novo selection system. This major decision had to be approved by all the three forces. But, before the final implementation, this process needed to be tried. So, a two-year trial was decided to be conducted parallel to the normal SSB selection process.

This new process had eliminated some of the processes which were not of much significance. However, it was decided that there need not be any compromise on the quality of the selected candidates. Back in 2016, there was the requirement of 9000. This decision would certainly bring up this number. There would be more candidates who could appear for this selection board. Thus, our nation would get more officers. It was decided that the prototype trails would happen in Bangalore for 2 years. This would include group testing, psychological test and interview.
