How to register online as a new voter and on shifting to new constituency/transposition

Want to register as a first-time voter on the India electoral rolls? Shifted to a new place in the same constituency or changed your residence to a new constituency? This article provides guidance on how new voters and those who have changed their constituencies can register online in the electoral rolls.

Overview

With 2019 India Lok Sabha elections coming up in a couple of months from now, it is time for you to ensure that, as a citizen of India, you will be able to cast your valuable vote. However, just because you have an Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) which provides supporting documentary proof of your citizenship, it will not be of any use at the polling station if your name is not on the electoral rolls. Now is the time to rectify this and ensure that your name is on the electoral rolls. You can do so via an online application at the official Government of India website of National Voters Service Portal (NVSP). Those who are voters but have changed their place of residence to another place in the same constituency or to a new constituency altogether can also fill up the relevant online forms as per the guidance which is given below.

Note that there is a separate form for online registration for overseas voters.

Here's what you need to do –
