NCHMCT 2019 entrance exam for M.Sc. Hospitality Administration courses online applications

National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT), Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India invites applications for the M.Sc. Hospitality Administration (HA) entrance exam 2019. This exam is essential to get admission for the 2019-2021 academic session in the two-year M.Sc. (HA) program which is jointly offered by NCHMCT and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).

About M.Sc. (HA) program

The M.Sc. (HA) program is a full-time course with four semesters for the 2-year duration. You can do this course at any of India's best six Hotel Management Institutes which are affiliated to NCHMCT , these located at Pusa, Chennai, Bangalore, Lucknow and Kolkata, and at NCHM-IH in Noida.

The course aims to provide job-oriented skills to get gainful employment in the field of hospitality. These will include technical skills, analytical skills, teaching aptitude, and managerial skills. Your career options are aplenty on the successful completion of the course. You can join the Faculty at an affiliated IHM, thus launching your teaching career in the hospitality sector. You also get the scope to take up a middle level & above management position in the private sector. The learning modules of the curriculum provide in-depth knowledge of and exposure to a variety of aspects of the hospitality industry. Alongside classroom sessions, there will be industry mentorship and counselling sessions. During the third semester, a student can opt for either Human Resource Management or Sales & Marketing.

Seat Reservation

There are 140 seats available totally. The seats are reserved as follows:
  • Scheduled Caste (SC) category candidates: 15%
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST) category candidates: 7 ½ %
  • OBC (Central List) (non-creamy layer) category: 27%
  • Physically disabled candidates: 5%

Eligibility criteria

You should have a B.Sc. degree in Hospitality and Hotel Administration from NCHM-IGNOU
You should have a Bachelor's Degree in Hotel Management from a recognized university and the institute should by an AICTE-approved one.

If you are appearing for the final semester / final year exam of the aforementioned degrees, you should be able to submit your Bachelor's Degree latest by 31st October 2019. If this is possible, then you can apply for the 2019 entrance exam.

Eligibility for direct admission

Direct admission to the M.Sc. (HA) program is available without having to appear for the joint entrance exam for those who have scored an aggregate of 55% marks in B.Sc. degree in Hospitality and Hotel Administration from NCHM-IGNOU. Alternatively: a Bachelor's Degree in Hotel Management from a recognized university & the institute is AICTE-approved + two years or more of working experience in 3-star or above-rated hotel industry (note that any industrial training during the program will not be considered as work experience). Industry-sponsored candidates with the requisite qualification as mentioned above and having work experience can also apply. Such candidates are required to attach the sponsorship letter with their application.

Note: no application fee through DD is required for these candidates to be sent along with the application form.

Application fees

The fee for the application form is Rs. 900/- for General and OBC category candidates and Rs.450/- for SC/ST/PD category candidates.

How to apply

Applications should be submitted in online mode only at the Tourism & Hospitality Institute Management System admissions' website or through the Council's website at On successfully completing and submitting the online application, take a print-out of it.

The print-out of the filled in application form along with the requisite fee through a Demand Draft and other required documents should be sent to NCHMCT, Noida (address provided below given for contact information) latest by 3rd May 2019. After allotment of seats through direct admission, if any, the other seats will be filled up through the entrance exam.

  1. Online application ends: 3rd May 2019.
  2. Last date for receipt of confirmation sheet along with fee and other documents: 3rd May 2019.
  3. Download Admit Card: 13th May to18th May 2019.
  4. Date of the entrance exam: 18th May 2019, 10a.m. to 12 noon.
  5. Declaration of first allotment list: 14th June 2019.
  6. Reporting for admission to accept the allotted seat: 17th to 21st June 2019.
  7. Declaration of second allotment list: 28th June 2019.
  8. Report for admission to accept the allotted seat: 1st to 5th July 2019.
  9. Last date for withdrawal, if any, allotted seat in 1st and 2nd allotment lists, to avail of refund (except enrollment fee of Rs.1000): 8th July 2019
  10. Declaration of the third list to fill vacancies, if any: 11th July 2019.
  11. Report for admission to accept the allotted seat: 12th to 16th July 2019.
  12. Physical reporting to the allotted Institute: 23rd to 24th July 2019.
  13. Commencement of classes: 25th July 2019.
