JNCASR Bengaluru PG and Ph.D. programs admissions 2019-2020


Looking for science and engineering postgraduate and Ph.D. courses with scholarships in India? Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bangalore, India offers scholarships and stipends for some of its programs of higher studies. This article provides complete information about the courses and eligibility criteria so that you can apply for admissions for the 2019-2020 JNCASR academic session.

Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) invites applications for admission to M.S. programs, Ph.D. programs and Master's program in Chemistry. Students will receive stipends which will cover tuition fees, hostel fees, some general expenses, etc. While most of the courses are offered on the campus itself, you can attend a couple of them at other scientific institutes in Bengaluru.

NCASR M.S. and Ph.D. programs

You can apply for M.S. programs in Engineering and Research and Ph.D. programs as well in Sciences and Engineering.



Eligibility for both M.Sc. and Ph.D.: You should have an M.Sc., B.E., B.Tech., M.E., M.Tech. or M.B.B.S. with at least 50% in the highest University exam. You should also have qualified in NET-JRF under CSIR/UGC Fellowship schemes or DBT/ICMR-JRF/INSPIRE-JRF or GATE/JEST/GPAT.

For M.S. (Research)/ M.S. (Engineering) courses, you can avail of a scholarship of Rs. 31,000/. An additional Rs. 40,000/- is given towards travel funds for national and international conferences. Further, you get Group Insurance Scheme and a medical scheme and can consult on-campus doctors, as well as avail of medical facilities elsewhere.

As a Ph.D. student at JNCASR you will receive JRF/SRF (as per Govt. norms) of Rs. 31,000/- (for the first two years) – Rs.35,000/- (for the next three years). Insurance is the same as for the M.S. courses. A one-time amount of 1lakh is given to cover travel to international or national conferences, with students attending conferences abroad, such as in USA, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Israel, Italy, etc.

JNCASR Masters program in Chemistry

This is a two-year program with an option to specialize in Materials Chemistry or Chemical Biology. You should have a minimum of 55% marks at the B.Sc. level to be eligible to apply for admission to this program. Those appearing in the final exam of their Bachelor's Degree this year can also apply. Those who have qualified the Joint Admissions test of Masters (JAM) are welcome to apply as well. Note that there is no Scholarship/Fellowship during the tenure of the program.

JNCASR Integrated Ph.D. programs

You can apply for these programs in Materials Science, Chemical Science and Biological Science and get an M.Sc. three years into this program. For all the programs, the eligibility criterion is that you must have a minimum of 55% marks at the Bachelor's level. Those appearing in the final exam of their Bachelor's Degree this year can also apply. Those who have qualified the Joint Admissions test of Masters (JAM) are welcome to apply as well.



Eligibility for specific areas is as follows-
Materials Science: You should have a Bachelor's degree in any branch of Science. You are expected to have sound knowledge in the fundamentals of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Chemical Science: You should have a Bachelor's degree in any branch of Science with Chemistry as a major and Mathematics as a subject at least up to the PUC level (10+2 level).

Biological Science: You should have a Bachelor's degree in any branch of Science. Selection will be through JNCASR's written test, followed by an interview at Bangalore for the shortlisted candidates.
