In this process, sometimes, some names are inadvertently removed from the voter list.

Elector's Photo Identity Card (EPIC)

The Elector's Photos Identity Card (EPIC) commonly referred to as the Voter Card or Voter ID is issued by the Election Commission of India. Anyone who wants to vote in an election, be it the Lok Sabha elections of 2019 or State elections, held at the state level, must compulsorily have the EPIC issued in their name. It is a prerequisite for voting, as it establishes your identity. The voter card ensures that no one impersonates you and casts a vote in your name.

However, having a voter card issued in your name is not enough. It only makes you eligible to cast your vote, but you can exercise your franchise only if your name is present on the electoral rolls. That is the reason you must check your name on the electoral list.
