IISERs (Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research) are established by Govt of India at Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Berhampur, Tirupati and Thiruvananthapuram. IISERs are the autonomous Institutions under MHRD, Govt. of India. The basic idea behind these institutions was to enable students to invent and implement sustainable solutions for societal problems through research in science.

These institutes are attracting talented students from all over the country and they have reputed faculty under whom the students carry out projects and research work. These institutes have a large number of publications and patents to their credit.

The students who have passed their class XII in 2018 or are appearing in class XII in the current year that is 2019 and have an aptitude and interest in the scientific research can apply for these courses and can chalk out a carer in the area of scientific research.

Courses offered by Institutes

These institutes mainly offer 5 years BS-MS dual degree program in which 4 years are for completing BS in engineering sciences and 1 year for a research project leading to MS thesis.

Only the IISER at Bhopal offers a 4 year BS program in Engineering Sciences and Economics.
