Mahatma Gandhi University in Kottayam district, Kerala invites applications from eligible candidates for Written Aptitude Test (WAT) for registration for research that leads to Ph.D. Degree of this University for various disciplines for the year 2019. If you are interested to apply for Ph.D. admission in this University Schools/Inter University Centres/Departments and approved Research Centres, then you need to appear for the Written Aptitude Test commonly known as WAT The details are mentioned below.

  • Candidates who have passed the PG examination with not less than 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate (without adding grace mark) in any discipline of Mahatma Gandhi University or any other recognized universities are eligible to apply for the Written Aptitude Test.
  • For SC/ST/ OBC (Non Creamy layer)/ Differently abled Candidates , they must have obtained their Masters degree with 50% marks or equivalent grade (without adding grace mark) prior to 19th September 1991
  • Those who are awaiting their PG exam results can also apply, but they should qualify the PG Degree on or before 31 July 2019.

Candidates who are exempted from M.G.University Ph.D 2019 written aptitude test

The below mentioned persons can apply directly for Ph.D registration when the notification is issued on July 2019.
  • Scientists from an Accredited R & D Institutions.
  • DST Women Scientist Awardees.
  • Regular and permanent teachers from the University Departments and the Government/Aided Colleges in Kerala.
  • UGC Teacher Fellows
  • KSCST/INSPIRE/MANF Fellowship Awardees.
  • JRF awardees
  • M.Phil. & M.Tech. (all discipline), MS, MD & MDS (Ayurveda, Modern Medicine and Homoeopathy) degree holders in the subject of research concerned.
  • Candidates who have qualified in the NET/SLET/GATE/GPAT,JEST,RGNF or other tests conducted by Government bodies like UGC,CSIR,ICAR/ICMR.

Application fees

  • General candidates: Rs 1000/-(Rupees One Thousand Only)
  • SC/ST candidates: Rs 500/-(Rupees Five Hundred only)

Documents to be submitted with the print out of the application form

The self-attested photocopies of the following documents should be submitted with the print out of the application form.
  • Eligibility Certificate/Equivalency Certificate from Mahatma Gandhi University for candidates of Universities other than M.G.University
  • Self attested copies of the PG Degree/ Provisional Certificate.
  • For those awaiting P.G.Degree results, they should obtain a certificate from the Head of the Institution regarding the appearance of final P.G. Examination
  • Certificate of disability issued by a Government Medical Board(For differently abled candidates.)
  • Non-creamy layer Certificate in original for OBC candidates
  • Consolidated P.G. mark list.
  • Caste certificate for SC/ST candidates

  • Last date for closing the portal for online registration: 30 April 2019, 5:00 PM
  • Last date of receipt of the Printout of the application from along with the photocopies of the documents uploaded : 2 May 2019, 3:00 PM
  • Hall ticket downloading dates: 15 May 2019 to 17 May .2019
  • Written Aptitude Test day and Time : 18 May 2019 Saturday 10.00 AM to 1.00 PM
  • Written Aptitude Test 2019 centre : CMS College Kottayam

WAT 2019 pattern

This will be a 3-hour exam with a maximum of 100 marks. Part A consists of objective type questions while Part B consists of short answer questions.
