Institute for the Physically Handicapped, New Delhi is an autonomous organization under the financial and administrative control of the ministry of social justice and empowerment, Government of India. It was registered as a society in the year 1976. It has been renamed as "Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya Institute for the Physically Handicapped" in the year 2002 and it has become National Institute in 2016 and renamed as Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities (DIVYANGJAN) PDUNIPPD. This institute is maintained especially for the persons with locomotor disabilities of all age groups.

This institute runs following long term duration courses of four and half year duration which are affiliated to the University of Delhi: Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT), Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT), Bachelor of Prosthetics & Orthotics (BPO). This institute also offers short term training programmes, orientation & awareness programmes.

Admissions 2019

Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities, New Delhi has announced admissions 2019 into the following 3 courses:

  1. Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT)
  2. Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT)
  3. Bachelor of Prosthetics & Orthotics (BPO)

Eligibility criteria

Candidates applying for BPO, BPT, BOT courses must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

  • Candidates must have completed their 10+2 or an equivalent examination with:

    Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English (PCBE) for BPT/BOT passed in each subject separately.
    Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology and English (PCME/PCBE) for BPO passed in each subject separately.

  • Candidates must have secured minimum 50% marks (for general) and 45% marks (for SC/ ST/ OBC/ PH/ CWAPP) in aggregate in above mentioned 4 subjects.
  • A candidate who has appeared qualifying examination and waiting for results can also apply for the entrance test.
  • Minimum age limit for seeking admission is 17 years as on 31st December 2019. Maximum age limit for General category and others will be 23 years and for OBC/ST/SC/PH for 28 years.

Selection procedure

The selection of the candidate for admission will be made based on the candidate's performance in the entrance test which will be held on 16th June 2019. The duration of the test will be three hours and test consist of multiple choices, objective type questions which are based on the senior secondary school curriculum.

Entrance exam pattern:
The question paper consists of followings four parts:

  1. Physics - 50
  2. Chemistry - 50
  3. Biology/ Mathematics - 50
  4. General Knowledge and English - 50

Application procedure

Interested and eligible candidates are requested to apply online through website"www.iphnewdelhi.in" or "www.pdunippd.in" from 19th April 2019 and the last date for application is 18th May 2019. The application fee for General/ OBC/ EWS/ CWAPP/ Other candidates is Rs. 1200/- and for PH/ ST/ SC candidates Rs. 600/-.The payment should be done through online itself using credit/debit card and internet banking. Admit card for the entrance exam will be available from the first week of June which can be downloaded from the institute website.
