About IDRBT


Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT) is established by Reserve Bank of India. The campus of IDRBT consists of an academic block and an executive facility center. This institute provides excellent facilities and six research centers - Analytics, Cyber Security, Mobile Banking, Affordable Technologies, Payment Systems, and Computing. The primary goal of the institute is to conduct applied research and also experimental development in Banking Technology. IDRBT mainly focus on following four major areas of research:

  1. Financial Networks and Applications
  2. Security Technologies for the Financial Sector
  3. Electronic Payments and Settlement Systems
  4. Financial Information Systems and Business Intelligence
This institute also conducts collaborative research programs with reputed national universities and international universities in the relevant areas. IDRBT offers various courses like Post Doctoral Fellowship, Ph.D. programmes, Post Graduate Diploma Programme, M.Tech. Programmes, Certification Programmes, Customized Programmes, International Programmes, etc.

Admissions 2019


Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology has launched the Post Graduate Diploma in Banking Technology (PGDBT) programme in July 2016. It is a full-time regular one year programme that provides essential learning inputs on technology management, integration, and implementation for students to meet the requirements of the banking and financial sector with changing technology. The aim of this programme is to develop technology professionals and to make the Indian banking and financial sector techno-efficient.

Intake of students
The total intake for the postgraduate diploma in banking technology is 40 seats in which 10 seats will be provided for sponsored/direct candidates from banks and financial institutions.

Eligibility Criteria


Candidates have to fulfill the following eligibility criteria for admission 2019 into Post Graduate Diploma in Banking Technology (PGDBT) programme at the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT), Hyderabad:

  1. Direct Candidates:

    • Candidates who have passed a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Master's Degree in any subject with minimum 60% of marks.
    • Candidates appearing final year can also apply.
    • Candidates should have a valid CAT/ GRE/ XAT/ ATMA/ CMAT/ MAT/ GMAT score.


  2. Sponsored Candidates/Employees of Banks and Financial Institutions:

    • Candidates who have passed Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Master's Degree in any subject with minimum 60% of marks and need not have GMAT/ CMAT/ CAT/ XAT/ ATMA/ MAT/ GRE scores.
    • Selected candidates need to relieve from their duties during the duration of the programme.

Selection Procedure


Selection is based on the performance in the Group Discussion and Personal Interview(GDPI) which is conducted on the basis of CAT/ GMAT/ GRE/ CMAT/ XAT/ MAT/ ATMA scores for direct candidates and in case of sponsored candidates/employees of banks and financial institutions need to attend group discussion and personal interview directly. The candidates are selected for admission depending on the scores in the GDPI.
