Intake of Seats and Duration of Course

  • M.A.: Duration of this course is 4 semesters and intake of seats for each subject is 40.
  • B.A.: Duration of this course is 6 semesters and intake of seats will be 40.
  • Diploma Course: Duration of this course is 2 years and intake of seats for each subject is 40.
  • P.G. Diploma: Duration of this course is 2 years and intake of seats will be 40.
  • P.G. Certification Course: Duration of this course is 1 year and intake of seats will be 40.
  • Certification Course: Duration of this course is 1 year and intake of seats for each subject is 40.


Eligibility criteria

Candidates have to fulfill the following eligibility criteria for admission 2019 into Post Graduate, Under Graduate, Diploma, and Certification Programmes:

  • For M.A. Candidates should have passed 10+2+3 Degree course or equivalent in any discipline from a recognized university in India or Abroad with minimum 50% of marks in aggregate.
  • For B.A. Candidates should have passed 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized university of India and Abroad.
  • For Diploma Course Candidates should have passed certification course in concerned subject from NNM or any recognized university.
  • For P.G. Diploma Candidates should have passed 1st year PG certificate course in Chinese.
  • For P.G. Certificate Course Candidates should have passed 10+2+3 Degree course or equivalent in any discipline from any recognized university in India or Abroad with minimum 50% of marks in aggregate.
  • For Certificate Course Candidates should have passed SSC from NNM or any recognized university of India or abroad.


Selection procedure

Selection is done based on the candidate's performance in Proficiency ( Written/ Oral ) Test conducted by the institute. Candidates with foreign degrees are exempted from Proficiency ( Written ) Test. However, they have to appear for Oral Test which will be announced on the institute website.

Date of proficiency (Written) Test for admission as follows

  • For B.A. (Hons.) in Pail and M.A. in Pail, Sanskrit, English, Hindi, and Tibetan studies exam will be held on 05th June 2019 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
  • For M.A. in Philosophy exam will be held on 05th June 2019 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM
  • For M.A. in Ancient History, Culture and Archaeology exam will be conducted on 06th June 2019 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
  • For M.A. in Buddhist Studies exam will be conducted on 06th June 2019 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM
  • For Certificate and Diploma Course in Pail, Chinese in Pail, Chinese and Tibetan Studies exam date will be announced later on the institute website.


Application procedure

Interested and eligible candidates are requested to apply online through Official Website. The last date for submission of application forms from Indians candidates will be 30th May 2019 and for Foreign candidates will be 10th June 2019. The application fee is Rs. 500/- should be made online itself using Credit card/ Debit card/ Net banking. Candidates have to download Admit cards from the institute website.
