Awareness and precautionary measures on Nipah Virus


As everyone might be aware of Nipah virus infection. I would like to share some information on the same with home remedies to protect at intial stage. Note that home remedies help only at the initial stage of infection.

What causes Nipah virus? How does it spread?

Nipah virus (NiV) infection is a newly emerging zoonosis that causes severe disease in both animals and humans. It has been told that the natural host of the virus are fruit bats of the Pteropodidae family, Pteropus genus. NiV is closely related to the Hendra virus, which causes an acute, viral respiratory infection. Transmission of the virus to humans takes place via direct contact with infected bats, infected pigs, or from other NiV infected people. The primary treatment for human cases is Intensive Supportive Care.

History

The virus infection has been detected in a village of Malaysia in 1998 May. Continuous death occurred due to fever. Blood sample was collected and with the help of research the virus found. Observation result proved that the Infection causes from pigs and bats. Close relation with affected animals spreads to humans as well.

Signs and symptoms of Nipah virus

NiV infection in human is linked to encephalitis - inflammation of the brain.
  1. Characterized by fever
  2. Headache
  3. Drowsiness
  4. Disorientation
  5. Mental confusion
  6. Respiratory troubles
  7. Coma
  8. Potential death


According to studies, symptoms can progress to coma within 24-48 hours. In some cases, patients may develop a respiratory illness during the early part of their infections.

Safety measures

  • Wash fruits with water(mixed with rock salt as it helps to remove toxins)
  • Do not travel to affected areas


Do not hesitate to consult doctor if you have fever, vomiting and drowsiness. Virus passes to every stage starting from fever to comma. It will be challenging to save life for one who at comma stage. Allopathy medicines says G protein saves life but it is under experiments.

Home remedies

  1. Take below ingredients and boil them in 4 glasses of water until it turns to 1 glass. During fever consume this drink once per day
    • Neem leaves – 12
    • Turmeric powder – ¼ spoon
    • Nut grass powder – ½ spoon
    • Vishna Gandhi powder – ½ spoon
    • Jeera – two pinches
  2. Boil coral jasmine leaves in 200 ml of water until it become 100 ml then sprinkle pepper powder and at last add lemon juice 3 drops before sipping. Consume this drink 3 to 4 times a day during fever.


Coral jasmine helps to fight with all kinds of new viruses and saves a life.
