About TANUVAS

Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University(TANUVAS) is an autonomous institution which offers UG, PG and Research programmes in veterinary science and animal husbandry, food technology, dairy technology and poultry technology. The Indian Council of Agricultural Research(ICAR) has accredited this university. The ultimate aim of the TANUVAS is to develop the learning and research process in the field of veterinary and animal sciences. Eligibility conditions

Only candidates who satisfy the below mentioned eligibility conditions are eligible to apply for admissions into BVSc & AH and B.Tech degree programmes at the Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University for the academic year 2019.
  1. Candidates should be native of Tamil Nadu.
  2. Candidate must hold a pass mark in Higher Secondary Examination(10+2) or any equivalent examination conducted by the Tamil Nadu state board, CBSE or any recognized board of education.
  3. In addition to the 12th standard examination, a pass in 11th standard examination is mandatory for the candidates to apply for the UG degree programs.
  4. For the candidates who have studied HSC/equivalent course through the academic stream, the minimum aggregate percentage of marks required for admissions into BVSC & AH should not be less than 70% for OC candidates, 65% for BC/BCM and 60% for MBC/DNC candidates. A minimum pass in the exam is enough for SC/SCA/ST candidates. The aggregate percentage of marks include the percentage of marks scored by the candidates in the subjects such as Physics and Chemistry taken together and Biology/(Botany and Zoology).
  5. For the candidates who have studied HSC/equivalent course through the vocational stream, the minimum aggregate percentage of marks required for admissions into BVSC & AH should not be less than 70% for OC candidates, 65% for BC/BCM and 60% for MBC/DNC candidates. A minimum pass in the exam is enough for SC/SCA/ST candidates. The aggregate percentage of marks include the percentage of marks scored by the candidates in subjects such as Biology and Vocational subjects(Agricultural Practices / Dairying/ Poultry).
  6. For admissions into B.Tech (Food Technology / Dairy Technology/ Poultry Technology), the University accepts application only from the candidates who have studied HSC/equivalent course through the academic stream. The minimum aggregate percentage of marks required for admissions into B.Tech programmes should not be less than 70% for OC candidates, 65% for BC/BCM and 60% for MBC/DNC candidates. A minimum pass in the exam is enough for SC/SCA/ST candidates. The aggregate percentage of marks is calculated based on the percentage of marks scored by the candidates in Mathematics, Biology and Physics and Chemistry (taken together).
  7. For SC/SCA/ST candidates, the maximum number of attempts accepted for passing the qualifying examination is three and for other candidates, it is two. The improvement marks of the candidates in HSC or any other equivalent examination of any year will not be considered.
  8. The minimum age limit required for the candidates to apply is 17 years as on 31st December 2019.The candidates who are applying for the UG degree courses should not have completed 21 years of age(maximum age limit) as on 1st July 2019. There is no age limit for SC/SCA/ST candidates.


How to apply?

For admissions into the UG programmes at TANUVAS, the eligible candidates must fill and submit the online application form available at the official website of the university. While filling the application form online, candidates must upload all the necessary documents and certificates. Once all the details are filled and the documents are uploaded, the candidates must make an online payment of the application fee through Credit card / Debit card / Internet Banking / IMPS.

After successful submission of the online application, the candidates must download the filled in application and then send the hard copy of the application form along with the photocopies of the required documents/certificates(mentioned in the checklist) to The Chairman, Admission Committee (UG), TANUVAS, Madhavaram Milk Colony, Chennai - 600 051 on or before10th June 2019, 5:45 PM.

  1. Print out of the downloaded filled in online application
  2. Copy of Mark Sheet of HSC / CBSE / Equivalent Examination
  3. Copy of the 11th Mark sheet for candidates who appeared Tamil Nadu HSC (12th) Examinations during 2019
  4. Copy of Transfer Certificate
  5. Copy of Permanent Community Certificate (if applicable)
  6. Copy of relevant certificate(s) as given in Annexure I to VI a & b of the Prospectus (if applicable)


Points to remember:
  • Candidates are requested to go through the prospectus and the specimen copy of the online application form available in the university website before filling the application form.
  • Candidates who wish to apply for B.Tech programmes( Food/Poultry/Dairy Technology) can submit their online application through single pooled BTech application and select their desired course of study based on their rank in pooled BTech course Ranklist at the time of counselling.
  • Candidates who wish to apply for both BVSc & AH and B.Tech degree programmes should submit the hardcopy of the filled in application form separately for each course along with the necessary enclosures in a separate cover.
  • The application fee must be paid through an online payment. No other mode of payment is accepted.
  • Only the filled-in online application will be accepted and other formats will be rejected.

Selection process

The selection of the candidates for admissions into the UG programmes is purely based on marks scored by the candidates in the qualifying examination. As per the rules of the Tamil Nadu Act, the marks scored by the candidates will be normalized and the University will assign a random number to each candidate and release a rank list for admissions to the BVSc & AH and BTech degree programmes.

Once the rank list is released, the shortlisted candidates will be called via SMS and E-mail to attend the counselling process. The selected candidates can download the counselling call letters from the University website and directly attend the counselling process on the date and time intimated by the University through SMS and Email.

The final selection of admission to the UG degree programmes will be done through counselling process on the basis of aggregate marks and the communal reservation of the Tamil Nadu Government. The candidates can select their desired course of study on the day of the counselling process.

Note::
  1. The ranklist and the counselling notification will be published in the official website of the Univeristy.
  2. Mere calling of the candidates for counselling does not ensure admission/selection of the candidates to the course of study.
  3. The University fills the seat as per the reservation policy of the Government of Tamil Nadu and Veterinary Council of India.
