The perks of joining Indian Navy

You will begin your career in the Indian Navy as a Sub Lieutenant and be eligible for promotion once you complete the requisite mandatory courses and sea-time, as also meet the requisite medical conditions. You will receive pay and allowances along with other various facilities and privileges. You will have a basic insurance cover of Rs.1 crore (on contribution) and gratuity as per the current rules in force. On commission, as an Officer, you can avail of annual and casual leave as per the existing regulations as well as leave during the training period on the basis of the existing training policy. Sports facilities are abundant, including learning and participating in adventure sports such as windsurfing, river rafting, mountaineering, etc.

How the candidates are selected

IHQ of Ministry of Defence (Navy) will fix a cut-off score to shortlist the applications for the selection process by the SSB based on JEE (Main) All India Rank- 2019. Shortlisted candidates will receive an intimation via email or through SMS about selection for the SSB interview. The interviews scheduled by SSB will be held at five cities, namely Bangalore, Bhopal, Coimbatore, Visakhapatnam, and Kolkata from August to October 2019.

SSB interview stages

The interview will be scheduled in two stages. In the first stage, you will appear for a test to analyze your intelligence and this will be followed by a Picture Perception test and Group Discussion. If you fail in this first stage, you will not be eligible to appear for the second stage. The second stage includes psychological testing, group testing, and an interview. This will be for a duration of about four days.

On clearing the second stage, you will then undergo a medical exam (which will be for about three to five days approximately). In case of a necessity to communicate with a request for a further change of SSB date, this should be addressed to the Call-up Officer of the concerned SSB and a fresh date for SSB may be assigned, depending on the availability of batches/slots. However, the venue for SSB interviews will not be changed.
